Topic: Last.fm feature Posted: November 21 2007 at 11:49 |
Is Windows Media Player 11 on MP3 devices a full working version, or is it a special MP3 device version?
If it is a full version, you should be able to select the last.fm plugin on it. Of course, I don't think it will scrobble unless the MP3 player is plugged in to the Internet. It's worth a try.
I'm not sure which devices use WMP though, I know some of the Sony's do.

I hope it gets sorted out properly by other manufacturers, because that would be a great thing.
The idea I have is that it's not actually uploading tracks live at the time you listen to them, rather, you upload the list that is saved on a file on your 'phone's harddisk and then you can upload it to last.fm, fully time-stamped as well.
Obviously the last.fm staff, or Apple, have thought of the idea already, but if it could be implemented fully, it would be very welcome by me.
EDIT: that seems to be the way Apple implements it as well

I'm pretty sure Apple don't implement it at all. iPods are just popular enough for someone to have coded this for it.

^ iPod, Zune ... as long as they don't support flat rate subscriptions I won't consider buying them.

as much as it may suck, I've seen most of what's out there and I can say for its price, the iPod is probably the best

Zunes are supposed to be good too though

Apparently new Nano's do work with last.fm Actually, I'm debating whether to buy an MP3 player... choices choices. I don't want an iPod, so... I think I may wait and see what these two new Sony's are like, because they're dropping some of their old features and going to use WMP instead. It's either one of those, or a Creative Zen. Any recommendations? I'm looking for as large a capacity as possible, but 8 GB seems about right for the time being.

You can also use my neat little album playlist service ... just enter the albums manually and have full control over your playlist.

That would be pretty cool James but there's no mention of one on their web site. I'm not sure that MP3 players have that capability yet. Why don't you contact them and suggest it?

Does anyone know if it is possible to implement last.fm on an MP3 player? If so, has it been done?
I think it would be quite cool to be able to download a list of all the music I've listened to when I've been out and about, onto my last.fm account. The same also applies for in-car players, both CD and Digital.
Is there a plug-in available for WMP for MP3/Multimedia devices that works with last.fm?
I'm genuinely curious about this.
