I just got this issue and me being a drummer I couldn't put it down there was so much information to learn from all the great drummers in prog. Plus I got a chance to see Mike Portnoy's newest kit the Mirage Monster it looks freakin great |

I thought you might be interested to know that the October issue of Modern Drummer is dedicated to prog rock.
Among other things, it contains interviews with Mike Portnoy, Bill Brufordm some smaller pieces on Gavin Harisson, Virgil Donati and Mark Zonder, a discussion of prog drumming with Jason Rullo, Nick D'Virgilio and Chris Pennie, an analysis of 14 Phil Collins beats and an overview of the fifty most important prog albums.
Although it's in a drummer-oriented magazine, non-drummers will probably also find it interesting. I did, at least (just bought it today, so I had something to read on the train to Copenhagen where I teach evening classes).
