The Mars Volta.
Mind you, about 90% of my collection(almost 500 cd's) I discovered here. TMV just became one of my top 2 favorite bands.

Ash Ra (as well as loads of other Krautrock gems).

Sadly, as much as I enjoy this website I haven't had much luck with the recommendations so far. I tried Opeth but don't like the death growls. Although, I suppose thank you for Damnation, because I do really like this album.
I tried VDGG because they are so highly praised here, but so far, the vocals were too strange for me. (Funny enough, since many people don't like my fave Rush because they don't like Geddy's vocals).
I did recently order albums from Collage and Satellite which I am really liking (although the Polish vocals of Collage don't really work for me since I don't know any Polish, I do like the music). Definitely on their way for a thank you.
I suppose that my biggest thank you to PA goes towards renewing my interest in bands that I had discovered previously but had moved on from: Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree. In addition PA has made me go back and re-listen/listen closer to the albums of the classic prog bands Rush, Yes, Genesis, ELP, and King Crimson. Haven't made it back to JT and Pink Floyd yet, but eventually.

Thank you, Prog Archives, for encouraging me to see the brilliance in the Gabriel era of Genesis.
