I agree with you on the Seven string reference. Im not a "Chug the lower string" kind of guy either. But the seven string models are really versatile for different styles and genres. also, it can add different textures to different parts of songs that either need a lower, crunchier, or wetter sound. And the lower frequency may also help for talk-box effect as well (If you use those of corse lol)

When playing lead electric, i primarily play Ibanez 7-string RG series. I also play on the Fender stagemaster 7-string with floy rose tremelo. I also own a Samic Acoustic guitar.

On bass, I normally play the 4-string Dean Edge model or the 5-string ibanez SDGR as well =]

Hehe, my neck pickup died recently.
Well, not the pickup per se, but the white wire that connects the neck pickup the pickup selector came loose and rendered my neck pickup unusable for the time being.
Anyone wanna come over and solder it back on for me?:P

I've looked through that site. I'm not primarily a 7 string player, and I've joined too many boards as it is. lol.  But I'll take a look for Blackmachine threads

I have no idea how much they cost exactly.
I honestly don't have that kind of money to buy a new guitar, I buy used.
I'm hopeful that I can snatch a RG 7620 for a good price, if not, I'll buy another 7421 for a backup.

Hmm.  I found some J.customs for about the same price as my RGT a few years ago.  Surprised they cost so much more now.

J Customs are honestly just way too much for what they are.
They would cost me about 6500 AUD all up to purchase and to ship here.
ET Guitars, an Australian custom shop, can make me Universe replica for 2000 AUD, with my choice of wood and other specs.
Sure, might not have the Ibanez name on it or the J Custom prestige, but at the end of the day, I'd gladly pay 4 grand less for a guitar that plays extremely well and was made with love and care by a dedicated custom shop maker.

As for 7 playing, I tune to B standard, just the same tuning off the shelf.
I rarely use the low B string to be honest, the main reason I play 7 strings is because of the comfort of the neck, which fits my hands better than a 6 string.
I'll use the low B string for extended scale runs and extended chords, but I'm not really a "chug on the lowest string all the time" kinda guy, I'm more into lead playing and into big, complex chords rather than power chords all the time.

You and me both.  I primarily play 6's, but the 7 comes it when I want the really low heavy sound (hence why I only detuned that one).

What about a J.custom?  I'm sure you'd be able to find the equivalent (or something close to it) from there

2007 model, nice.
I'd love to have one, if it were not for the fact I don't play 6 string guitars and I don't buy guitars to collect them, I play them, and if I don't, I sell them to someone that will.
I pretty much spend hours each day on guitar forums, and probably 2-4 hours playing guitar each day, so I'm kinda a guitar nut as you can tellLOL

It was 2007.I went to a local shop and they had to wait until one was built as they'd run out of stock, which took a few months before they finally shipped it.  It was discontinued not long after and replaced with the RGT320Z, which has the Zero Edge bridge

EDIT: Oh, I've seen pics of them before, but I forgot about them.  I'll check them out.  Thanks

Yeah, I barely use a trem these days, hence why I picked up the fixed bridge 7421.
BTW, what year was your RGT320Q made?
2005 or 2006 or something?
I have the Ibanez 2006 catalogue, it has that same finish as the one in your sig for the 2006 model.

Also, btw, KxK make custom made guitars for under 1400 USD, if money is an issue.
I know guys that bought KxK guitars, got them shipped to Australia, and they still costs less than a brand new Ibanez RG 1527.

Yeah.  I'd love one.  The only thing putting me off is the two year waiting list, lack of money,  and the fact that trems aren't an option.  Then again that last one doesn't bother me much anymore, as I'm using the trem less and less these days

Blackmachine make some absolutely incredible instruments, and I haven't even played one yet, and I know they do, hehe.
Seriously, the pictures of Blackmachine guitars I've seen blow me away every time, the sheer craftsmanship that goes into them.
Blackmachine is a true custom maker, where Carvin is technically not a true custom maker. Sure, you can choose what specs you want, but compared to a dedicated custom builder, your choices are severely limited.
Go for a Blackmachine, there is not a chance you'd regret it, because everyone that owns one is absolutely knocked off their feet by their guitar.

Haha.  Yeah.  The posting button seems to be acting weird for me as well.  I don't know if it's been doing this for a long time, because I really need to start posting here more often :S

^I was almost gonna a RG 7321 brand new in fact.
But I ended up finding that fantastic, Japanese made 7421 for less than half the price of a new 7321.
It sucks they don't make the 7421 anymore, because they really are better than the 7321.
If you can, try to find a 7421/7621/7420 or an RG 7620. They were the 7 strings that represented the golden era of Ibanez 7 strings. Once you play one of the Japanese made 7 strings from the late 90s/early 2000s like those aforementioneds models, you'll have a hard time going back to the Indonesian made 7321 (unless you got your a 7321 a few years ago, in which case it will be Korean made).
The 1527 model is great too, although not cheap unless you snag one on the used market that is a  few years old.
