They sounded so powerful live! I love how they improvise on stage (specially Jimmy), and how raw they sound while playing live. I think I actually prefer Zep live than in studio, it's just so much power. It'd have been great to have lived in the 70s and to see them live around that time. Smile

I liked everything, but I'll have to say mystical.

Despite I love almost all Zep (they're probably my favorite band), I absolutely love their Heavy Blues/Hard Rock, you know, Heartbreaker, Dazed And Confused, Black Dog, etc etc, they're just so many songs to talk about!!! Yeah, and better when they sound rawer and more 'in your face', sometimes it's like ectasy listening to Zep!

Though I hate to sound like a shameless fanboy, I like 'em all very much...I guess their best songs usually came out of either the heavy blues phase or mystical prog-rock leanings.  The folk side of Zep is often overlooked by casual fans but I just love songs like Battle of Evermore and Going to California; I think a lot of it had to do with Jimmy and John Paul's fascination with British folklore and occult themes...of course their proficiency with acoustic instruments such as mandolin really helped it all come together.

Probably the only option that doesn't quite stand up to the rest for me is "synth poppers", perhaps a bit too forced and out of their element here...but still good on a different level.

How many more times, Imigrant song, Whole lotta love, Communication breakdown, Heartbreaker, Galows pole, Rock and roll , what means "cock rockers",

but also:

Kashmir, Houses of the holly, No quarter, The rain song, In the light, so "mystycal-synth poppers"

Dude, dude, dude... You want the best synth poppers, you go down to Flower and Fifth street, there's this dude sellin' 'em out of a cart on the street. Best damn synth popper I had in my life.

Synth popper, Is that like a Jalapeno popper? I voted for poppers. I like all my Zep except for the reggae thing.
