Queen II has prog emelents without doubt. Queen should be in the progarchives imho, because there are a lot of bands which have less prog elements !!!

Lacks a defining instrument?
What the f?
instrument facists favourite clause...
Progressive rock can and will be played with all possible instruments.
Whether keyboards are used or not has nothing to do w/ the
categorisation.
2 bagpipes, a recorder and 3 flugelhorns - sounds like a prog band, right?
Cheers

Queen is a ROCK band. It's OK to start a topic and discuss a band not in the archives. But this endless argument about what is prog and what is not prog is never going to satisy everyone. There will be one camp that says yes and another that says no. Then again others will say rock with prog tendencies, etc. WE ALL LISTEN TO MUSIC OUTSIDE OF PROG. And that is a good thing.

Er... that's right - that's why we have a discussion forum - to discuss it... if everyone just agreed all the time, there would be no need for the discussions...

Hi Everybody,
I think Queen II has some Prog elements, but still soaring a hard well worked band at that time.
Yes, I love Queen too.
And what about my topic about "Brian Wilson Smile"? I'm still waiting answers there...
Best Greetings...

Not really prog overall. There's too much pop and glam in their catalogue to be considered a prog band. However I would agree that Queen II - Night at the opera have significant prog elements and are great albums.

Did'nt Boston proudly remark about exactly the same thing?

Bohemian Rhapsody is an amazing piece of music - it's just overplayed.
First 5 Queen albums = Prog, IMO, with special consideration to most of the others, especially Innuendo.

I'm a greatest fan of Queen, and I just heard one more time the album from 1974 II, and the question came to my mind.
It is a prog album?
Absolutelly Yes! I said. It is totally different from the others albums, divided in The White Queen (As It Began), and The March Of The Black Queen.
And more question, somebody have played Ogre Battle:The March Of The Black Queen a RPG for PlayStation, is it a lot of coincidence?
