Most of the bands listed in the poll are exciting or at least have been, but as others observed they are not the only ones. For instance, I would have replaced DT (which I don't find exciting at all) with Rush, and would have mentioned Queensryche.

I'm most excited about dream Theater's upcoming albums
However the most exciting music I know is Yes, Genesis, and ELP in 70's

I voted King Crimson, but VdGG, Soft Machine, Gentle Giant, Genesis, and Magma are all exciting!!!!!

They all have their moments (besides maybe Pink Floyd), but I voted for Gentle Giant for the same reasons as Trouserpress and Man With Hat, except for the time signaturew thing, which is really not something I care about.
Genesis, when they're rocking hard, can also be quite exciting too.

RUSH are the most exciting band for me overall.

Gentle Giant are always exciting - especially with familiar tracks! There's always a fantastic moment just round the corner, and it's wonderful to wait in anticipation for that time sig change, ripping solo or quirky little refrain...
Honorable mentions to: KC, VDGG, Magma and Yes, of course.

Ha! - Just as I thought - this is not a picture of Genesis at all (the drummer with a centre parting & a left handed Mike Rutherford was a bit of a giveaway).
This is 'The Musical Box' - Pretenders to the throne, but highly regarded.
I have to agree with Cluster One, though, Genesis, when on form (and not playing a later Motown medley ), could be one of the most exciting bands to see / hear.
King Crimson however, well, there is a band you cannot predict; whenever I see them, I am never disappointed. Fripp never allows the band to stagnate, and always excites....

Rush, the name of the band explains the excitement that comes with their music. That's why I'm a die'hard rush fan. Their music actually does get my adrenaline pumping.
