Topic: Brainville @ the Borderline, 3rd June, 07 Posted: May 08 2007 at 17:09 |
Back to Brainville 3 issue meanwhile...
I was (very) lucky to see them last year, some three days after the famous Canterbury Festival. All I can do is to recommend (highly) you not to miss the concert.
...'cause mine was great!!!

Ah yes, the Holdsworth gig was yesterday. Sounds like fun.
Yes, Mother Gong played in a pub in Swindon last year and I didn't hear about it until after the event! Grrr! I could have easily gone to see them too. True, it wasn't Daevid Allen, but I'm sure Gilli Smyth's Mother Gong is just as good.

Typical!...Mother Gong played a free show near mine too while I was away.
Managed to catch up with them at the Uncon in Amsterdam though. Absolutely amazing experience, lot's of DVDs & CDs of the bands to look forward to too so I hear
Met Allan Holdsworth yesterday too, one of the nicest I've had the pleasure to meet

Richard is an incredibly nice guy, I must say. I didn't chat to Phil Miller, but he did sign my copy of Hatwise Choice for me, so I was happy. I missed Mother Gong last year in my home town, how I didn't see that, I don't know... I don't expect such bands to play here.

I saw Hatfield and the North locally, before Pip passed on, so I was very lucky. I even met Richard Sinclair and his wife. Pip and the new keyboard player were the only ones I didn't get the signatures of.
'tis a shame Pip passed on.
I doubt I can go either. Trains are rubbish on Sundays and I'd have to book Monday off work (which isn't a problem, actually).

I managed to meet Phil & Richard after the show too, though I couldn't catch Pip before I had to run for the bus. It's a great shame I agree, I think the Borderline show was the last he played in the UK.
Though as a plus Lol Coxhill guested for the first set.
I definitely want to go to this though...probably the only chance to catch Daevid in the UK this year. The only annoying thing is it clashes with the Faust show, though luckily I was too lazy to buy tickets for that

I can't go...
because I have no money and because I should be in church while this is going on... and there's probably an age limit.

Sure.If I can get the tickets. The Borderline is always closed everytime I try to get tickets from the box-office. |
That's because they don't have a box-office...you have to go the the Astoria round the corner...
Should be a great show though, got my ticket already...

£12:50 It maybe over 18, I'm not sure, it doesn't say. Hmm, now now Ben, you can't go without me... that simply isn't fair. Plus your father would hate the music! You do know Chris Cutler and Daevid Allen don't you?

It's actually near the Charing Cross Road, so it's almost in Bloomsbury. Infact, it's not all that far from The Mean Fiddler, where I've been twice before.

Ben.Your Dad definately won't sponsor you going into that den of iniquity.
I was at the Borderline a couple of years ago and the price for bottled beer increases every hour.It started off at £2.50 a bottle and was about £4 at chucking-out time.I daren't hazard a guess at the prices now.

Where is this place? I doubt I can go though...I don't think my dad wants to feed my prog addiction with concert tickets....he's already spent enough money on those (that's what he says, anyways)
