Topic: Another F1 poll!? Posted: May 07 2007 at 14:42 |
Spain is so close!!!!
So, I see each one has at least one vote (even Jim Clark).
It appears to be a tie with Senna at 3, and 3 have said it was Gilles.

The same with Jim Clark.
Jackie Stewart and Emerson Fittipaldi were no slouches either.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

That finished in the top 5 only 3 times?
My vote goes to Senna. What an amazing driver. Simply loved him, Schumacher and Prost comes close. |
We're talking about the BEST driver, not about the most successful (in that case there would be no question: M.Schumacher). Being successful depends on a lot a factors, among them: CAR, regularity, ...luck.
IHMO, Villeneuve demonstrated to be the greatest F.1 driver of all times driving the cars he had, often far less then competitive, in F.1 he did things no one did before him, and no one after him !

3 times? He won 6 races in only 4 full seasons of F1, and only one of those did he have a competative car.

I reckon Fangio was the best driver of all time but Ascari was pretty close.

Ah yes...I should've known you would say Schumi.
I hate to say it, but Alonso will break his record and win 8 titles.
Which will then be broken by Hamilton who will win 10.

Alonso doesnt want to stick around that long, so it will be Hamilton that breaks that record.
|
Oh yeah, right. First it was that sorry excuse for a loser that is Montoya, now we have a true winner like Alonso but who still doesn't reach Schumi's level, and now Hamilton, who is just learning to crawl in F1 but already seen as the ultimate master. Give him time, man...Damn! Alonso won't equal Schumi's numbers, never. Hamilton maybe, if he turns out to be as good as you think. |
Gotcha, hook, line and sinker, you didnt even take any notice of the smiley. Seriesly, I dont think anyone will beat those records, Alonso has said several times that he doesnt want to go after them and Hamilton has a good car now, but theres no telling for the future.

I was SEVERELY dissapointed with Montoya. When I first started watching F1 he was pretty hot, and I truly thought he would be the next MS. No joke. We all know how that panned out.
And I was joking about Alonso, and I don't think ANYONE will reach Schumi's records.
Also, I do think Hamilton is really good. Not 10 championships good....but I will say right here, Hamilton WILL be a World Champion one day.
And you can't call me a fanboy, because I'm not British.

This is just opinion I guess. It is almost impossible to compare the 1950's to today... And many drivers have been great over the history of F1.
Anyway, who do you think is the best?
