Give up this infatuation with me-it aint gonna happen!!!Wink

I'm glad you think so highly of yourself... atleast someone does!

You can't put me or anyone else down for supporting Yusef's deportation... you don't have enough accurate information regarding exactly what there is on him.

Now just stop it with this obsessive behaviour. This is stalking and there are laws against it you know!Wink

Geez, forget the laws... if I was stalking you, I'd have to turn myself in.  But your world of illusion seem to be growing all the time.

Apparently, according to Threefates, he once said some threatening things about American Imperialism and therefore became an enemy of the people of the USA. The basic premise of her argument supporting the celebrated pacifists' expulsion from American soil was "why take the risk?"LOLLOL

I don't see where there has been any proof given as to his innocense... any one can get a good lawyer...

I see you continue to make just as much sense as usual in your attempt to put down others...

I think you're giving Bush too much credit...I doubt he'll make the Billboard top twenty despot charts once his term of office is up. So far, he hasn't even passed Nixon on the presidential slimeball list...Bush is just a nasty little boy with ADD who probably wasn't even in the inner circle of his election campaign.

I don't honestly suspect him of terrorist ties, and he's never commited nor been accused of a crime as far as I know. Just because he irritates me doesn't make him a bad person.

But I don't think it's is all that unreasonable to restrict visitation to a country that is engaged in a war (even a war that I'm not a big fan of, if you were wondering )...by no means is it comparable to the Asian detention camps during WWII, or any other historical act of persecution. So far our conduct towards Muslims off the battlefield has been fairly atrocity-free for once, and I'd love to keep it that way- in order to retain whatever national pride we can still muster (plus, I'd like as few people to get hurt or killed as possible- but that's just my hippie idealism, right? ).

Do we suspect Muslims more that is deserved? Yeah, I think many of us do. Is this particular act an example of causing suffering? Not enough to earn my protest. If you're looking for incidences of our terrorist paranoia- that are actually worth the vigilant eye of the true patriot and lover of freedom- there are several more important ones going on right now that we could be talking about...

Well I was always taught that you were innocent until proven guilty.

I have never heard one thing proven that he did wrong.  Was he charged with a crime at any time?

You may dislike the predjudice implied by the US actions, but there was no cruelty beyond forcing him to alter his travel plans. Much as I respect your opinion, I believe that to applaud or condone the USA's actions is to completely ignore the events of the last 3 years.Ok-so I talk with the benefit of hindsight, but where is this threat? The actions against Cat Stevens were based on loathing and bigotry-nothing else. All this talk about his being a danger to the American people is embarrassing and just perpetuates the myth that every American citizen is a gun-toting, bible-bashing, red-necked half-wit.

Just because you have the right to refuse admission doesnt measn you use it to oppress individuals. The Bin Laden family was welcomed with open arms regularly despite having concrete connections to terrorism.Confused

A humble and publicity-shunning man, Yusef is almost never referred to without praise for his efforts for peace and charity (including on his own website- in addition to his mastery of the acoustic guitar, he's learned how to toot his own horn). Of course, his greatest gift to the world may have been when he gave up the music business- shortly after his third single showed the extremely narrow range of his talents.

Ahhh, that felt good. I've rid myself of all my negativity in one post.

I agree.  For those who don't know, Marillion was on the plane with Y. Islam when it was diverted.   S. Hogarth spoke about this when threefates and I met him at the NYC show.

Peace.

I finished it as well, although (unless I was missing something extremely obvious) he'd said all he had to say in the first 100 pages.

You & me both, Reed (Oh, God, I've done it again - I've agreed with you...).

I think I'm right in saying the original offence taken at 'The Satanic verses' (apart from the extreme tediummmmmmmmzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz - why did I read it, knowing his writing style from 'Midnight's Children'?) was there was mention of a brothel where each young lady had the name of one of Allah's wives....

I still think there will be a track on the next Marillion album about it.  You could lay good money on it.
