Hi,
You quite had a discussion going out there and probably figured things out but lemme help you about the bass player name. Cenk Turanlı, he is my buddy and my name was falsely written as the bass player. Turanlı is the man. BUT, in "Mi Kubbesi" the band did not use any surnames. So, you must list as "Cenk" in the members (like Cem, Cevdet, Tolga, Cenk for MK album). In the "band's past" kinda summary, you can list his surname if you like... * So, how the hell did that mistake happen? I made a website for Nekropsi at 90's. I wrote my name and surname to the page. Somebody, who got information from that site mistakely wrote my name and surname as a band member. 2 Cenk's mixed up.... Years later, I found out that it spread to everywhere! It's even on Turkish music websites and youtube. I kindly request a correction when I surf by... That's the story... Thanks a lot, Cenk Dölek |

That's good...
I'll try, maybe, to change a "ý" for a "ı", one day (not today).
It seems that the "unusual" letters, when being copied from the forum posts, are not always interpreted properly by the system.
And I suspect that they are interpreted properly when being taken from the "Character Map".

Well, I've updated the bio text. It seems readable now (hopefully).
However, the last letter in Cenk's surname was interpreted as "ý" instead of "ı". That's rather weird, I have to say.
There are languages where the former letter (without an accent above it, though) corresponds the sound which is phonetically identical to the sound corresponding to the Turkish letter "ı". But this fact doesn't solve the problem.
I don't want to change it once again, for the moment.
I'd like to know also whether the text is readable for others, not only for me.
Thanks in advance.

For a while, I'm copying here the text from the original post, in order not to lose an information. The album's title will appear in its right form, Mi Kubbesi.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEKROPSI arrived on the Istanbul scene in 1990 with drummer Cevdet Erek and guitarist Erem Tanyeri; with the addition of guitarist Cem Ömeroglu and bassist Umut Gurbuz a year later, the band issued a thrash-metal demo titled “Speed Lessons Part 1” which sold 700 copies in local music stores and by mail. The personnel has changed slightly since so that the line-up now consists of Erek and Ömeroglu plus newcomers Tolga Yenilmez on guitar and Cenk Turanlı on bass. Thanks to ADA Music - a label that has signed many a Turkish-folk and left-wing musician since the mid 80’s and now concentrates on rock and alternative bands - NEKROPSI released their first full-fledged album in 1996 and are presently working on a next one.
Their album, titled “Mi Kubbesi”, literally means “The dome of mi”, as in “do, ré, mi” (a short story by Erek Cevdet on the album’s inner sleeve explains the concept). The fast rhythmic drums, heavy bass lines and ferocious guitar duels may prompt the listener to write this off as a death metal album; but there is also an unmistakable KING CRIMSON influence here as well as a spaciness reminiscent of PINK FLOYD, not to mention a distinct and very likeable local flavour, particularly where the rhythmic structures are concerned. In a perfect blend of Middle-Eastern and Western influences, the exhuberance is always nicely tempered by atmospheric passages. "Mi Kubbesi" is practically all instrumental except for a few melodious shouts here and there that blend in with the instruments. Prog metal fans, guitar aficionados as well as symphonic prog fans who like a little muscle in their prog may want to check these guys out. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully, it'll be possible to restore the biography text with this one.

Unfortunately, that was happened when I changed the name "Dolek" for "Turanlı"...
I don't know why it happened, the only suspection is on the last letter of the name which, probably, wasn't recognised by a system as a letter and, consequently, damaged the whole text.
Anyway, it seems that the initial post contains the correct text, with only exception of the album title which should be written as Mi Kubbesi (appears twice in the text).

Wait... look at the bio of Nekropsi! Do you also have some gibberish instead of the normal letters as I do?

It seems that he might simply copy the text from the existing bio in PA, where the title is written (wrongly, probably) as Mi Kubbersi. Otherwise it's really strange, since the typo (if it is a typo) appears twice in his original post.
Edit: Great, Tuzvihar! Many thanks! First of all, it solves the problem. Also, it'll be possible to replace the old small cover with this one. Dziękuję bardzo (sp?)! Edited by Fassbinder - March 26 2007 at 20:50 |

Besides look at the album cover:

"Music is much like f**king, but some composers can't climax and others climax too often, leaving themselves and the listener jaded and spent."

But in the title of the thread it's "Mi Kubbesi". The letters "e" and "r" are beside each other on a keyboard so maybe he hit "r" by mistake when wrirtng the post.

Yes, I see. Thanks!
Notice that I never said your supposition was wrong.
But look at the difference in spelling of the album's title in the onterview and in the original post. I wonder whether the native speaker of Turkish might make such a mistake, but it seems that the right title is Mi Kubbesi.

I've found an interview with Cevdet Erek (drummer): http://www.toroddfuglesteg.com/nekropsi.html
First question: 1. When was the band formed? Have you released other releases than "Mi Kubbesi"? - The band was formed in 1990 by Cevdet Erek (drums) and Erem Tanyeri (guitar). Umut Gurbuz (bass) and Cem Omeroglu (guitar) joined the band 1 year later. A 4 piece speed-thrash demo titled Speed Lessons Part 1 was recorded and sold 700 via mail order and a few local music stores. After the departure of Erem and Umut, Tolga Yenilmez joined the band and so the skeleton of the band was formed: Cem (guitar, vocals), Tolga(guitar, vocals), Cevdet(drums, percussion). After a period of 5 months practice, an untitled promo demo containing 13 songs was recorded. Cenk Turanl1 (bass) joined the band in 1994. Look at the last sentence. |

Quite may be.
Anyway, I prefer to wait for the full response since there are some additional questions, like the very title of the album. I know that "-si" is the Turkish suffix which is added to a noun when this noun is in the nominal phrase, but I can't tell you which word for "dome" is right in Turkish -- "kubbe" or "kubber".

I think he means that he was mentioned as the bass player and he's not the one but "Cenk Turanlı" is. |

OK, let us sort it out.
1. The misspelling of the band's title is apparent -- it should be NEKROPSI, not NEKROPOSI.
2. Now, the bass player name. The existing version of the bio says "Cenk Dolek". Your corrected version says "Cenk Turanlı", yet you named yourself at the end of your message as "Cenk Dölek". Which name should appear in the bio?
3. The album title is currently Mi Kubbesi. In your corrected version it appears as Mi Kubbersi. I believe you have the word "kubber" for "dome" in Turkish. Correct me if I'm wrong.
4. Are there any other errors/mistakes/misspellings that should be corrected? If there are some, please, emphasise them somehow in the text (say, write them in bold), as well as those I've mentioned. Then it'll be much easier to make the necessary corrections.

Hi there, a correction to the text on :
