It is very difficult it succeed to listen to this demo, today. Contact: Ennio Ficiur at www.ennioficiur.com (that perhaps it can help you) or Atkingani to which I sent off the sampler of the demo (always that it have unloaded them). P.s.: Unfortunately I do not know other methods (to the moment) to seek the demo. |

I saw the link for Ennio Ficiur but I couldn't open it 'cause I'm at work now.
However, is this demo CD available to be heard? Or at least some tracks?

Band: State O' Mind
Nationality: Italy
Links: Sincerely the band has not a web site (because in 1999 Internet Not so it was spread). I advise, however, of to experience to contact Ennio Ficiur, lead singer of the band, today appreciated singer of Operas (it sang also to the Carnagie Hall) that has this http: www.ennioficiur.com.
Bio: (P. s. : other hurting point. I go to memory.)
The State O' Mind formed themselves in the middle of 90's in San Michele Al Tagliamento (Venezia, to the boundary with my region, Friuli venezia Giulia). The love for band that Crimson Glory, Dream theater, King Crimson, Savatage, Fates Warning or Queensryche is the basic one from which him started. Nevertheless the insertion of a guitarist like Carlo Nadalin that loved Manowar, Helloween, Iron Maiden, R.J.Dio, Deep Purple, Y.J. Malmsteen created immediately discussion on the genre to propose. Nevertheless he accepted to produce Prog Metal. In the 1999 State O' Mind produces one applauded demo CD with four songs that had a lot of positive reviews. Unfortunately when it seemed arrived the just coupling Carlo Nadalin left for musical divergences and doing not succeed to find a valid substitute the band disbanded.
Line-Up:
Ennio Ficiur: vocals
Tommaso Gobbato: guitar
Carlo Nadalin: guitar
Iacopo Gobbato: bass
Ennio Fabris: drums
My review:
STATE O' MIND demo Cd (1999) This demo CD starting with "Back To Real Life", song by Carlo Nadalin, in pure Power Metal style with Prog arrengements. If the drums is very Power Metal, the guitar parts are very burning and technique. Unfortunately the production (very amatorial) penalized the voice of Ennio Ficiur (very extreme warm) but increases the power of this song. "Five Kings" is a Jazz Prog metal Song with Power Metal arrengements. In this song the lack of the keyboards is covered from the guitars. In fact the second guitar is used like keyboards with the help of the bass line. Another good test of Ennio Ficiur (beyond the guitars). "Madness" present a morer Jazz structure and in this case Ennio Ficiur suffers, showing to be a best singing showing to be a best singing. Nevertheless we cannot say that you do not show its immense ability. Nevertheless we cannot say that you do not show its immense ability because this song is too much difficult for their level of preparation. Closes this demo one of the more emotional song that I listen... This is "Unnamed", good Power Prog Metal song with a guitar wall of sound, good drums (technique and involving). But the very point of force is (another!!!) the voice of Ennio Ficiur, that it seeks to imitate Michael kiske and instead it seems R. J. Dio blended to Bruce Dickinson.
Summarized: I love this demo because It's the type of Prog Metal that I prefer. Nevertheless it is a big demo CD. and, I do not say it only I, It's better than a lot of albums that are in commerce. perhaps contacting Ennio Ficiur one copy it would be able still to be available. At any case if you a fans of Savatage, Queenspyche, POS, dream Theater, Royal Hunt, Riverside or other similar band this is the correctly purchase. Edited by Mandrakeroot - March 08 2007 at 10:49 |
