A very interesting release. I'm waiting to see what SW and the guys have to offer, which I presume will be a lot

Does anyone knows if there's any demos, samples or live recordings (bootlegs...) on the net of the new album material ?
maybe an official artist list for the new album ?

Holy Sh**! I had not heard this one until now. The new P.T. release is going to be stellar with all the good news surrounding it. I am "waiting..."

Btw - I have a 14 year old son that is now a P/T. fan, after realizing these guys are the modern day eqivelant to Pink Floyd, which is still popular in the schoolyards across the country.

^Cool

And for those of you interested in reading the interview w/ SW, Out_Presentia at the PTF forum has traslated it: "SW: Half of the CD has been recorded and I expect recording to be ready at the beginning of 2007. Anyway, my deadline will be half of January.
Unfortunately I can not reveal the album title, but the album will contain 6 tracks. One track is about 20 minutes long and the total playtime will be about 55 minutes.
The songs are rather long and the music and lyrics are connected to a theme I call 'blank generation'.
A generation of kids growing up with MTV, computergames, cellphones, chemical drugs, TV, internet and all those things that distract from the great gift of life.
I grew up at the start of this new generation and I think that al those material things are impoverishing instead of enriching their lives.
These kids are so distracted by the material world that they lack profoundness, emotions and 'soul'.
The core of the CD is the fear of the fact that we raise an empty generation.
What depresses me most is the intellectual level of all those reality TV-shows presented as the current norm.
Furthermore the theme of the CD is partially based on the beautiful book 'Lunar Park' by Bret Easton Ellis.
This will be our most ambitious CD up until now and it will sound even more epic than we ever did before. The larger part of the material we've played live already.
It's a luxury that we didn't experience in the past. The material was able to grow and that should improve the CD. "
Into this wild Abyss the fiend
Stood on the brink of Hell and looked a while,
Pondering his Voyage.

Some more news:

Fripp has announced somewhere on the web that he contributes to two songs on the new PT album, one with soundscapes and one with metal guitar playing Cool

I like that Lifeson and Fripp are getting in on this one. And yes it'd be cool to see Steve team-up with more people (it's about the music, guys!) I think he should see if Devin Townsend wants to do anything. They could come up with something truly original!

It just does.  Big pet peeve.

It is unlikely, though not impossible, that Pure Reason Rev will support on the next tour as Steve invited suggestions for support acts on the PT myspace recently. There were pages and pages of suggestions and this option has now been taken down.

Amongst the suggestions for support act were Rush, Opeth and Dream Theater.......Steve had to intervene and point out the obvious.

Some people!

I suggested Riverside, but Simon from Carbon Nation reckons they are "too proggy" to be coinsidered, he tends to know these things...

I agree with Tonie!! Embarrassed

I have to admit, I'm really looking forward to the new PT album too. Did the article give any more insight on the new Blackfield release?

I'm heading up to Glasgow ABC this very afternoon to pick up tix for both PT (in April) and also for BT (Ben Taylor, son of James). I understand that Pure Reason Revolution supported PT during some of their recent dates. Does anyone know if they might still be doing so come April?

Why must everyone spell Dave's last name incorrectly?Angry  GILMOUR.

On that note, yes I'd be very interested in hearing a collaboration.  It may very well harken back to their older style which I'd like very much.

I'm fairly certain I saw some people recording... surprised as well that nothing has turned up.  I of course have been searching.

There's ProjeKct Six's tracks (officially released) for download from the show I went to (the Keswick show).  It's a collection of several shows on the east coast and is available for download only.  It's about $13.  I'm considering giving it an order.

Holy crap!  This sounds better than I could ever have imagined!

well if Steve reads this,(he does contributes to this forum,) he might give it a thought, although I think he would consider any link up with Floyd as a retrograde step.

I reckon Alex will contribute something textural, and a solo, as will Fripp.

I'm really excited about this album.  The new material sounded really good on their recent tour, albeit more on the dark and metal side.  But Steven Wilson always manages to produce great albums, and I'm sure this new album will be really good.
