I'm not sure, but I have wrecked two soundcards by placing amplifier input cables to wrong plugs. Luckily they were integrated soundcards...

How bad can things get? I usually hook my notebook up to the stereoset at night, and play music from the PC over the tape connection of my amplifier (dratted thing doesn't have an auxiliary device). I did this on Friday as well, and noticed yesterday that the sound over the notebook speakers is barely audible and on the headphones all I get is a lot of crackling.
Could it be that my amplifier wrecked my soundcard? This set up has worked for months, so it could just be the age of the notebook, but I'm not sure... Anyone around who knows how these things work - and if my guess is correct? Edited by Angelo - October 30 2006 at 13:28 |
