Oh ![LOL](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)
It was really hard to make out to me.
I thought he said "I mix my ashes with tea." Wow, a little off ![LOL](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)
But yes it was a great chorus, real passionate, and they had the orange lights blaze on as soon as they went into it so that added to the emotion. I can't wait to hear it on the album.

Wow last night was killer. PT blew my mind!
Fripp and Belew came on before them, didn't say a word the entire time, didn't even acknowledge the audience, and just jammed. So that was kind of annoying. Don't get me wrong, I love them both, but all Fripp was doing were these volume swells, then he would mess with his effects, then do another swell, then mess with his effects, then do a quick little run. So I was not at all impressed with Project Six.
Then PT came on and went into their new songs. The first one was pretty good, as was the second. Then they got to the third song. Steve goes "So this is the long one. Seventeen minutes long. Must be good right?" They played that and it blew my mind, the entire song was just unrelentessly heavy and it was so passionate. Then they played two more songs that more mellow but still had an edge.
After the break they started off with Open Car, which they just nailed. Then they did the sound of muzak, which was great, everyone really got into that one. They followed that up with Buying New Soul, which was definitely a highlight. Despite a little technical difficulties, the acoustics were amazing, as were the keys. And then the chorus had everybody pumping their fist in the air. it was great. Then to make things even better, they went right into Arriving Somewhere But Not Here, which was definitely a crowd favorite. They had some really cool video playing behind them that was synchronized with the song, and the heavy parts were so heavy!!! They were so powerful I felt like I was at a Motorhead concert.
Next they did flawless versions of .3 and The Start Of Something Beautiful. They closed with Trains which was just amazing! Steve added little touches to the acoustics that gave it more of a folky feel and everyone added the claps to the end. For the encore they came out and did Halo which was really powerful, especially with the verses in huge bold letters on the screen behind them. And then they finished with Blackest Eyes, which just brought the house down.
Amazing show, Steven said when the tour is done they're going to go back to London and record the material they played and some other new songs that they hadn't played. He said that they should be touring in the Spring to promote the new album. I'll definitely go see them again! |
The mellow song right after the beast was actually still part of the beast, you can tell by the synth loop that leads you into it, and the fact that they only said they were playing 6 songs not seven. I wouldn't say it was "unrelentessly heavy" either, the intro (about 6 min.) wasn't heavy. The intro to the beast was also my favorite part of the new stuff. I loved the way it rose up then fell then rose up again, and led you into the heavy stuff.

Regarding the epic... In Philly, Steve mentioned that all the major fans (those of us that attended quite a few shows) have lovingly nicknamed it "The Beast". He said that it has a much better name than that... we'll just have to wait and see.
The other great thing about the Philly show is that Steve hung out with us a couple hours after the show. Actually Steve, Richard and Wes.. took us all to the corner pub where we stayed for a few hours just talking about silly things. Since the pub had a dj spinning crap music... Richard got up after about 20 minutes and said he was going back to the bus... but the rest of us had a great night.

How cool would it be to have a RUSH, PT tour??? |
That would be the most sick and intense thing ever. I can't wait for the new albums from both bands.

Man, I'm so jealous. I wish I could see them again soon. But at least they promised to come to Sweden the next tour, so I won't have to return to Glasgow to see them again. Hopefully, they'll keep that promise. I will probably go to Glasgow anyway, though. And at least one more concert. :)

Man I can't wait. Only 6 more hours and I'm off to see them! The Beast sounds amazing from everything I've heard. And it's not that I don't like Deadwing (Lazarus is one of my favorite songs ever), I still think it's a good album, I just thought it was getting way too mainstream. And again, the metal touches were not to my liking.
What's weird is that I'm a huge metalhead, but for some reason, PT deciding to go heavy just didn't work for me.

I hope it doesn't it leak out. These songs are way to good to be experienced for the first time in a recording with crappy quality. People who didn't get a chance to see PT live this tour should wait for the release of the record, so they can enjoy it the way it was meant to be. Or maybe I'm just too much of a cd maniac myself, heh.

Just got back... INCREDIBLE. The new material especially. And what a surprise that ProjeKct Six was there! I didn't realize they were going to be opening for them!
Wilson said that the nick-name for the 17min epic is "The Beast" but he refused to disclose any of the actual new song names yet. So... we'll have to be patient. BUT, "The Beast" was beyond incredible. PT has their Echoes. Epic in every sense of the word! Can't wait for them to record it!
Oh, and I think I saw some people bootlegging despite the strict warnings. I thought I saw some camcorder lights.... so... I wouldn't be surprised if the stuff leaks out soon...

Great sound mix, great energy, great music, it was just GREAT. Projeckt 6 played with them, and they were alright. Fripp was great, but i wasnt feeling the drums to much.
But right before PT went on, i was walking around, and i f**king see Jordan Rudess just hanging out, so I went up to him and talked for a little bit, he was a really cool dude.
Great night! |

what does it sound like?
heavy like deadwing-ish or did they go back to the softer more mellow side?
I'm praying mellow, deadwing definitely was not a favorite of mine. |
If you just want mellow stuff you may be dissapointed, but I don't think you will be. The new stuff is probably as heavy as heavy as DW. 2 mellow songs, 3 straght foward rock to metal tracks, (only one of which I found very little enjoyment in) although they are very different from DW for the most part, not nearly as popish. And 'the beast' well you'd have to nuts to not like this one......... But it's only first listen so you really can't judge yet.
I really would'nt cosider this DWish I found it different. And if you hated Shallow (which I hated from first listen) there is nothing like those popish metal tracks here.
