Exactly, that's my point of view either! And if you're taking Iron
Maiden out then you can take out other non-prog-bands like Radiohead or
Muse...

I could go on all day telling you why Radiohead is progressive. Of course, if you are the kind that only thinks bands that are like Yes, Genesis, and Pink Floyd are progressive and only bands that sound like them are progressive, then its a lost cause.

Badabec-- Essentially you are right. Maiden is metal and always has been, but relative to the metal that came before (Sabbath, Priest, etc.), they did utilize a more complex and sophisticated musical structure that birthed what would later be called 'progressive metal'. Just remeber that label was used to signify a metal band with progressive tendencies rather than heavy prog (like maybe Rush).

I've got a simple question: Why has Iron Maiden been added to the Prog Archives?
It's not the case that I'd think this band would be crap, no way
(though I don't like them, but I think they are a good metal-band) but
I can't see anything that is progressive in their music (or the music
of them I have listened to until now).
This is an archive for progressive music. Sorry, but I simply can't dispose the feeling that many people here forget that.
