Topic: anyone listen?-Umphrey McGee/Phish Posted: September 13 2006 at 18:27 |
I have been a fan of Umphrey's and Phish for years now. God, they both are the best on the Jam scene. Expect Umphrey's to go big places.

idk why theyre under jazz-fusion on this site, i dont really hear it in their sound. they have a lot of maiden, crimson, and jam-band influence in their sound.

Umphrey's Mcgee is the fire. I have been to a couple shows in Indiana, and I don't consider them to be prog, but they are the best live band right now. (emphasis on the period)

Phish is so underrated on this site.
They were one of my first favorite bands, and even after getting more interested in other prog artists, they remain my favorite artist on this site.

nice, i dont think people here understand what Phish is about. they have incredible prog songs and isnt hippie music at all. theres a hell of a jazz-fusion/funk influence in their sound, as well as symphonic prog. their song are like another world. and of course they jam all the time live
Junta is probably the second best prog album of the 80's (the first being Moving Pictures of course)

Phish and Umphrey's McGee. Anyone like or listen to them? If you like Zappa, King Crimson, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, just to name a few, youd enjoy these bands. i ask because they are pretty popular bands, but aren't so popular on this site. anyone fans?
*EDITED* idk if this should be in the prog-related forum or not (phish is considered PR here, although Umphrey's McGee is considered jazz-fusion) so i apologize if this topic is in the wrong place. if not, then ok.
