I hate the Google search. It's confusing for someone new, and it makes it much harder to find some bands, and impossible for some bands (I dare you to find the entry for Urban Sax via the search).

....so what have you asked Google recently?....

"They know all about you

Every time you use an internet search engine, your inquiry is stored in a huge database. Would you like such personal information to become public knowledge? Yet for thousands of AOL customers, that nightmare has just become a reality. Andrew Brown reports on an incident that has exposed how much we divulge to Google & co "

Depends on what you call annoying I guess. The google engine looks different and may be a bit slower, but at least it finds stuff.
As an example: In the old engine, I could search on e.g. Phil Collins and find nothing, now I find all kinds of references to him...

I suppose it's just a choice... having a good website that attracts a lot of people or having a good website with a bloody annoying search engine that attracts a few more people. I know what I would choose...

Hmmm I didn't notice that. Still, what exactly is the advantage of this? I don't understand what Max is trying to say... Embarrassed

The problem is that to Google all web pages are the same - just a collection of words which are indexed. So it doesn't know whether a page is a forum thread, band page, album page etc..

What I know is that it takes about four times more time to find the band you're looking for.

Thanks for questionning .

What exactly do you mean? What does this mean in effect? Is the ProgArchives search tool coming back, next to the google search tool, or is it going to stay like this?

But if I wanted a more complete research I'd surf to google myself! I don't want that; I want a progarchives search. I have never seen a website that only has a google search engine before... Confused

For example, it will allow you to search for a band member, and see all the entries they are mentioned in. Also, individual tracks can now be found.

On the downside new or updated content is not visible for several weeks.ShockedWink

I was little surprised that it's now google. It's a bit better, but also worse. I'm not complaining. But what can it do to bands who aren't so popular? Good is that it allows you to dispell.
I liked the appearance of old "machine".

But even better would be if gogle was here, in THE search:

BTW have you noticed there's now some ad, or pop-uo sh*t, which tries to get you "fix" your computer or something. I don't remember what it is exactly, but it makes me close the window. I don't like it. (Viruses?? help) Well, i don't need help but this site does.
