I must admit it sounds fine to me,despite the low bitrate.
One thing you can say about DT is that their albums are always well-produced and well packaged.
Mick Portnoy is a top guy too.

Dream Theater are perfectionists ... I'm sure the recording quality will be as good as always (Live Scenes, Budokan).

It is a 64kbit WMA stream ... not exactly CD quality. It's a good compromise between bandwidth and quality though, considering that it's only for evaluation purposes. But of course there's the risk that some listeners might think that the production sucks.

o alright thats good, i wasnt sure. i hadnt checked the quality of it. then im still glad i preordered it

I'm sure the official version will be much better. Mp3 teasers aren't known for their quality .

LaBrie has a problem with enunciation sometimes. His overal vocal quality is better than on Live at Budokan, but he has a tendency to sort of scream sometimes instead of "singing loudly." On every version of "Innocence Faded," studio or live, I can never understand what he says at that one verse before the pre-chorus. I know it's hard to sing, but it annoys me a bit sometimes. Overall, the performance was very good, but they can be a bit repetitive with their flourishes and instrumentals. I want to see/hear what the rest of the concert is like, though. |
I think that on I & W and Awake he just sang beyond his range, and for some reason it worked. But obviously he can't do that on stage every night. I guess it's not something he is to blame for, as he didn't write the vocal lines ...

I think I'll just grab it when it shows up online sometime soon. I'm expecting it to be fantastic, by the way.

You mean one hour, it's NOT the whole thing. It's less than half than the actual album, which is 3 dics around 3 hours long. Labrie sounded amazing! Some people just have different opinions than others. Every little thing about DT ever mentioned here has some sort of bashing involved with it. Even if it's just joking, it's not funny, just annoying and disrespectful.

I got through one song before I wanted to punch LaBrie in the face. What happened to you DT? or more accurately, what happened to me that I can't listen to them anymore?

Should be good if it's anything like the show I saw (the one right before the Radio City Hall one, which this is a recording of). Includes full orchestra and performance of entire Six Degrees Disc 2!
