An innocent little song about "love" misinterpreted - that's the danger with song lyrics, you can interpret the meanings in so many ways and get it wrong.

I somehow feel vindicated. Anyway, Jeff Lynne supposedly dispels the abortion myth himself in a BBC interview here, but I've yet to be able to get it to play inside of Opera. I may have to resort to IE.

*micky's ELO radar goes off*

ditto Zac.. and checking it out... have listened to that song for YEARS and never got that inclination from the lyrics.. then again.. especially in prog... it's there.. if you want to find it.  I'm sure some wacko could interpet Close to the Edge as the inner emotional conflicts being endured by a young lady faced with a horrible decision.  Confused

Definitely about abortion, no question.
Can you tell me where my country lies?

Dunno, but it's a really catchy and enjoyable song

If I'm not mistaken, "Livin' Thing" refers to being in love.

Many years ago, a friend told me that the lyrics to Livin' Thing ia about an abortion. At the time i didnt believe them. But as the years rolled past and the lyrics came to me, it would definitely seem that that is the topic of Livin' Thing.

Anyone care to agree or disagree???

And, are there any other proggy songs that deal with taboo subjects?
