I disagree. I think Crimson has only made 2 albums that are less than spectacular, in Three of a Perfect Pair and Islands. I greatly enjoy all of their albums. Robert Fripp can be fairly egotistical, but I don't think it negatively effects the music.

I'd say everything they did in the 70's is pretty much essential. I haven't heard all of their latter albums yet, but I'm getting convinced that King Crimson is one of the few bands who have never released an unimpressive album.
