Porcupine Tree.
The whole postrock movement (GYBE, SR, EITS ans os on) is sadly missing in the poll. |

They're right here in my sig. ![]() For bands pushing what is capable in music at the moment I vote for The Mars Volta. Don't get me wrong, I like Anekdoten, Riverside, Tool, Paatos and all of those bands, but its The Mars Volta who are going deeper into uncharted territory than any of those bands. BUT, Godspeed you! black emperor went even further than The Mars Volta when Omar and Cedric where still in At the drive in and I still haven't seen a band going in the direction in to what Godspeed whent. (maybe ASMZ but at their third release they had their own identity instead of a GYBE copy) |

It's between Radiohead and Porcupine Tree. I chose Porcupine Tree because Radiohead gets plenty of recognition. Ultimately i would say it's a tie.

Opeth, but it was a hard decision. Riverside comes close, very close. I
love both bands, but in a different way. I think 'Ghost Reveries' was
absolutely magnificent, as well as 'Second Life Syndrome'. It's just
different music.
And I haven't heard much yet of Anekdoten, but what I've heard, I absolutely dig! |

If we talking about pushing boundaries - my vote goes for TMV.
Otherwise Anekdoten is best one from this list (not pushing anything - just doing great music).
Paatos are OK at times.
Others are very mediocre IMO.

I chose Riverside from the list. But my favorite was Spock's Beard until Neal Morse left them.
