Likewise Prog Chick, it was great meeting you too (and indeed a big shout of 'huzzah!' to all the band members who took time out to have a natter). Edited by sigod - October 05 2006 at 18:35 |

Now he tells me! ![]() Funnily enough, I'm a big, big Pat Metheny fan. I wish I'd know that at the time as we could have had one of those geeky fan discussions about the merits of his ECM vs his Geffen period. Actually, I've just bored myself by mentioning it. ![]() ![]() Edited by sigod - October 05 2006 at 18:26 |

Well here they are (in no particular order). These are all the photos that are halfway decent from my budget camera. All apologies to the two Johns (Beck and Mitchell) but the photos I took of their set were just rubbish (unlike their performance which was excellent) so I haven't included them in here.
This might take a moment or two to upload... Both Huw and your good self put in a lot of work for this and it was very much appreciated. ![]() Edited by sigod - October 05 2006 at 18:20 |

Yes, I've had car problems for quite some time, so I hope to rectify this soon! I could have seriously slept in the car too (I'm just that kind of guy!).
Well hopefully they'll put on another next year and I hope to have my car sorted by then. Lambie, is it likely to go ahead next year? I would love it if it did. Obviously it depends on who wants to play, but the more recognition it gets, the more bands I'm sure would like to play. You need more RIO/Avant-Prog bands though, too much symphonic. ![]() |

I can concur that it was a blinkin MARVELLOUS weekend........... I only intended to be there on the Saturday......... got home in the wee small hours of Sunday........slept for oh....about 2 hours......... got up, made coffee......... looked at the agenda for Sunday.........and we blinkin well went back it was so good!!!
Stephen & Huw did a remarkable job!
I met some lovely people........... and one or two less lovely (but funny none-the-less
![]() Pleased to report that Sigod was in the first category!!! (thanks for not letting on that I am more of an old crone than a chick!
![]() I got a pile of new cd's to play, I got to see PRR (I must admit to have done some nagging about that!) and some lovely ..er..........."things" which I bought from the delightful hippies in the corner!
I have seen grumbles about sound/smoke/bands/merch/bum wiping facilities etc etc on other forums....... and I think some folk are just the sort to like a blinkin good moan and forget all the excellent points of a weekend! Personally I think it was TOP STUFF! (and some folk are just down right mean...)
So I managed to see 9 of the 12 bands in two days, and I think this festival has serious legs....I thoroughly recommend it to anyone with the stamina for next years fest!!!
Hello to all of you I met, and bar-hoo-sucks to those of you who stayed home! (apart from Geck0 who wanted to go but had car trubbs..........poor s*d!)

On behalf of Huw and myself (I was the co-organiser and the other bloke doing the band intros - oh, and the Sonicbond bloke), thanks to everyone who came - it was an amazing weekend, and I haven't really come down yet!
I pressed a lot of flesh (ooeerrr) over the two days, and had so many shouted conversations over the PA my voice had completely gone by the Sunday night.
Great to meet Prog-chick - looking good on the tellybox yesterday morning, too!
It would be wrong for me to single out bands, but I blubbed shamelessly during White Willow - cos having them there meant a lot to me - but everyone gave the festival their all!
Cheers.
Stephen

Ladies and gents
Just got back and it was a great festival. Real highlights for me were Pendragon (obviously), The Flower Kings and Pure Reason Revolution all of whom ablsolutely rocked my world. A big thank you to Huw from Also Eden (who put in a fantastic set on the Sunday night) for organising the event. I think what he did was marvellous. Well done sir. ![]() It was great to meet so many people (and our very own Prog Chick ![]() Thanks also to F2 and Sonic Bond who put together such tempting CD stalls, I now have many hours of happy listening ahead of me (although I cannot afford to buy any more CDs or DVDs for the next 20 years ![]() I'll post some photos of the event as soon as I get time to download them from my camera. It's getting exciting here too............. really looking forward to this! I have just popped 4 loaves of dough into the airing cupboard so there is enough bread at breakfast time for all the folk who seem to be crashing at our place tonight............. 'cos I think in the morning we're having us a convoy!!!
WOOOHOOOO!
Right............. now I have to dig out a pile of sleeping bags!
See you lucky attendees tomorrow!
(and for those of you who have been sitting on the fence..........I think there are still some tickets left, so throw caution to the wind and come down to Bilston tomorrow.......... if we don't support this fantastic event, we will all sit around saying "there are no good Prog-fests in the UK!)
See ta's tomorrow!

As I have learned, if you want decent music in your part of the world..organise your own festival!
It all kicks off in a few mins, cos I'm off to Stansted to pick up White Willow.
See some of you tomorrow!

You are all so lucky. The only grand musical event around here is a collection of crap called "Festival de Viña". The rest is local bands with low experience and half done artistry. Back in school, I remember reading something about Art history. The book was almost exclusively about the 40 years delay between the vanguardist plastic movements and Chile. Plus, our last dictator killed Arts and Artists as well, so the state of development of many fields is naturally relegated to a state many levels bellow what you would call "Underground".

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I found you in the end! I was embarrassed to say hello. I knew who you were straight away, but I just couldn't approach you... but somehow I started chatting to you. Sigod, she doesn't bite (unless provoked), so don't worry. Just don't start chatting about how much you dislike Pat Metheny (I don't even know if you dislike him!), or she'll bite your head off! ![]() Edited by Geck0 - September 28 2006 at 23:28 |

Have fun guys to this prog.fest. Believe me, after two days of music, you will be drained. I experienced it on the 15 and 16 of september at our prog.fest here. It's fun, but really draining. It's worthed the price and the effort. |
