Topic: Favorite Classic Iron Maiden Album Posted: February 10 2007 at 13:02 |
I really dont like this band, but, the only album than I can listen from them is "The number of the beast", I consider it the best of Iron Maiden

I've always loved that 1st Maiden album. It was raw, direct & energetic with a punkish atitude for a metal band. Although Harris dismissed the producer's role as nothing more than, "one more take guys" while reading the paper, I can't say that the band didn't come through big time. I prefer the Eddie on this cover, Paul D'Ianno's singing, & while it would be interesting to see what the guitars & bass could have sounded like properly produced, at the same time, it could have easily made a mess of it if done by the wrong person (essentially trying to commercialize the sound, soften the raw edges, etc...) For those musicians out there, see if you can hear the Celtic melody on Transylvannia. I had to play a simple chorded arrangement on acoustic, but my friends were freaked when they got it. If you need help, listen to Thin Lizzy's Emerald for a comparison as far as the Celtic thing.

I'll have to go with Number of the Beast.
Is it strange I don't even remotely enjoy 7th Son?

I was a HUGE maiden fan back in the mid 80s!
Powerslave
Number of the Beast
Piece of Mind
Those are my 3 faves......
I have a few things since Powerslave/Live After Death, but started to get more into classic rock/Classic prog at that point in my life (Late teens, starting college) and kinda lost track of Maiden...
Very good band, and I can definitely see why they are here....

For me, Killers is Iron Maiden's best album !
Terrific, aggresive and epic.
All songs kill !

Number of the Beast.
I will never forget them performing the stuff off that album at Reading festival 1982 - brilliant stuff.
They brought me back to earth with a bump when I saw them on the "Piece of Mind" tour - I spent several long solos in the bar...
