Rick Wakeman is the best, but they're all geniuses, especially: Banks, Emerson, Minnear, Moraz and Wright.

Tony rules!

His prog material is like the undertow: it always seems to smoulder right beneath the surface - foreboding, gripping and tremendously powerful.

Wakeman, and best of luck to you friend, I made a thread just like this and it got trashed.

Tony Banks ... over seven of my other favourite keyboardists
"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Voted Vangelis, but Wakeman is absolutely fantastic too with Froese close at third. Thjis van Leer and Rick van der Linden cannot be forgotten. Emerson and Barden are also favorites of mine....

I voted Banks. I love his sense of melody and his interesting chord progressions. Great song writer too.

But then Genesis are one my favourite bands. I prefer them to Yes, and I'm not into ELP at all.

Saying that, I have to concede that both Keith Emmerson and Rick Wakemen are both very technically proficient players. More obviously so than Banks. It's difficult to judge for sure, because I dont play the keyboards myself.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
