   Well, I guess I've been hearing the term "progressive rock" since I started paying attention to music, but I really only became actively interested in the genre a couple years ago, with Floyd, Zeppelin and Genesis.

	You're not even going to believe this but as progressive rock is defined on this site less than a year! And I own over 3,000 albums and CDs of the genre. I just paid the kid next door 10 dollars an hour to count and put my collection in alphabetical order. If you go to my collaborators section under my real name, Ian Gledhill, I offer an explanation of how and when I got into progressive rock. It's always good to see younger people acquiring an appreciation for the genre

	In 1971/72 I was 11/12 years old and my best Friends brother who was 5 years older than us stated to bring home albums by bands that I'd never heard of.At first it was the album sleeves that intrigued me the most as I thought the music inpenetrable.Those albums were Fragile by Yes and Hawkwind's In Search of Space.After a while the music took hold of me and as they say,Bob's yer uncle.(Well actually,Bob was my mate's brother.)True For Christmas,72 I got an annual/book that focused on Heavy Metal & Prog. This featured Yes,King Crimson,Sabbath,Purple,Grand Funk Railroad and Status Quo (then catagorised as a heavy blues crossover band.) So,eventually,in answer to your question,1971/72. 	There have been many many debates about the first prog album and the birth of prog but by it's very nature the term "Progressive Rock" must have crept in a while after several different groups began 'doing something different'. So my question is, to those members who were around at the time (I'm a young'un so it's all history to me): When did you start becoming aware of the term "Progressive Rock"?
