Basically all he does is offer folksy platitudes and common-sense advice that the advice-seekers would know already if they had any brains.

Hard to see how that justifies massive paychecks, book deals and eternal fealty to The Oprah.

I like him. He's confronting people with the consequences of their behaviour, which is always a good thing. A breath of fresh air in talk show land. 

Still, I have to admit, I can't listen very long to him. After a while, I've heard enough. But I like his attitude and the southern drawl  .
