Agreed. ELP ought to be the first thing that springs to mind due to their variations interpretations.

I think many of those who posted in this thread misunderstood the question of this poll.

The question is not "Who is/was interpreting classical music most?". But rather "Who is closer to classical composers by importance of their works, and who, subsequently, will be probably named "classics", say, by the end of this century, provided Symphonic Prog will be considered a "clasical musical genre". 

So, if my interpretation of poll question is correct, I'd say Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, VdGG, and GG.

Anyway, Ekseption (despite all my admiration towards late Rick van der Linden) did vitually nothing except for interpreting and popularising classical music. And Symphony X IMO did nothing worth-while at all.

I voted for Genesis as Hackett and Banks have more of a classical way in their compositions...specially albums like Selling England by the pound and some instrumental pieces
