Snowdog...I sat there and listened to Tormato in its entirety one day...for a grand total of 7 times...noting everything.
By the end of the 7th listen, I was doubled over in severe stomach pain, ears ringing and head pounding. My boyfriend came home from work, looked at me and said "I see. f**king Tormato, eh?"
"Yeah."
sh*t...pneumatic drills are more melodic and pleasant than that morass of w**kery.

I don't agree, if thats noise what is Motorhead, Can, Faust or a pneumatic drill?

I love Big Generator, I like Open Your Eyes....I think Union is the weakest though.

"Big Generator." I understand that "90125" was a natural
progression, or so Jon Anderson says, but "Generator" sounded forced,
it wasn't only pop, it was bad pop. "Shoot High, Aim Low" is the
only song that saves that CD from the trash can.

I would have to agree. I am actually one of the few who has always liked "90125," but I hated "Big Generator" immediately. It sounds like (and probably was) a churned out, contractual obligation.

Tormato does it for me, of the ones I have (in chronological order: Going For The One, Tormato, Drama, and 90125). I'll always think 90125 is class, but TORMATO is one big f**ked-up blosh of noise.

Which one has the song "don't kill the whales" cause that is where my vote goes.

The same album that has "On the Silent Wings of Freedom" which is a killer YES toon.
No, Tormato is not the definitive YES album, but it's far from their worst album by a long shot!
Open Your Eyes
Big Generator
Union
are the worst they ever came up with in my opinion. |
well here's some clapping hands for you about two months late hahahha

My least favourite is easily Union, and 90125 and The Ladder are my favourite albums post-Going For The One. I actually really like the first side of Open Your Eyes - the second I can take or leave - and Tormato makes for consistently engaging, bizarre entertainment. And pretty much the rest of those albums I can take or leave as well.

I actually like a few tracks on "Open Your Eyes," notably the killer title track and "Universal Garden. I'd rather save my venom for "Union" (aka "Onion" or "Eunuch"). All the participating members of Yes will eternally burn in Hell for that turkey.

I would agree with the majority here, and to me Open Your Eyes is worst. However I voted for The Ladder, as it is not significantly better, but no one voted for it before me.

I choose Open Your Eyes ... I will not review it because I can't really bring myself to listen to that trash (althrough New State in Mind is frickin' cool!!)
How can people vote for drama?? It has the epic Machine Messiah and Tempus Fugit, their only true Rock&roll song! Same for Magnification, a really good album (althrough I lost some interest after discovering the Flower Kings)

for me its 'open your eyes' easily...
'Big generator' had a couple of decent songs; 'Shoot high aim low' and 'Final eyes'. I love 'Talk', 'Drama' and 'Tormato'
90125 is OK. 'Union' has a few decent songs, 'Lift me up', 'Miracle of life', 'The more we live'
But 'Open your eyes' seems to have ZERO redeeming qualities, the songs are just simply not good songs, simple as that

Open Your Eyes - sounds like uninspired, bad copy of Talk (an underrated album)
