Another scandalous one is the change of cover for GG's Three Friends

And I prefer the US cover of Octopus

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,

Erpland, where did you find that photo of Amon Düül 2? I thought I knew all the photos of them that are available in the web.

Moonmadness

Even though the Dean cover change is tasteless, the change of Moonmadness's cover is so horrible and ridiculous I actually chuckled out loud the first time I saw it.

I too prefer the American cover of Octopus, I think the original version is rather dark and dull. The alternate version is a far more interesting.

I think the original Moonmadness cover is better, but the American version is quite humourous

Camel by miles, moonmadness has one of the most beautiful covers ever, and this is the first time i see the american verion cover, man it is horrible! For gentle giant i think although the american cover isnt bad i find the other one better and more suitable with the music in the album.

The US "Moonmadness" cover is simply an abomination Dead. The one on "Octopus" is not a patch on the original, of course, but at least it's tolerable.

I can only agree; it looks like a circus cover.

It was thanks to the Roger Dean Octopus cover that I discovered Gentle Giant - I was already a Yes fan and thought that anything with a Roger Dean cover must be good (and generally is).

If I had seen the U.S. cover first I probably wouldn't have discovered GG for maybe another 5 years... album cover art heavily influenced my record buying decisions in the 70's!

As for the U.S. Moonmadness cover... sheer Lunar Sea!

I like the American Octopus cover.

But that Camel one...phew...that is something. Lucky that i have the original

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
