I had a very long Klaus Schulze ambient moment!

But then I found the "Like A Hurricane" Neil Young sounding prog, so I had fun with that.

I've yet to dabble with getting any new sounds out of it, it's fun enough with just the presets for me at the moment!

It's easy to do ambient stuff, but at the same time, it's not a tune I'm playing, it's a bit random.

Is it possible to hold an Arpeggiated beat, whilst playing an Organ sound?  I mean, a totally different beat in the background?

It's an analogue modelling synth. You won't be getting realistic acoustic simulations. Don't place too much value in comparisons; what you ARE getting is a very flexible synthesis engine. I'm sure it'll all become clear when you have it in your hands. And LOTS of fun.

I imagine the Moog comparison was in terms of fatness, warmth, filter-yness (and knobs, and wooden end panels). Just about any synth can pull off a vaguely Lucky Man-sounding mono square wave lead with portamento. Don't worry that you'll have any trouble pulling off ultra-proggy stuff.

I shall let you know if it's a fun thing or not.  The Vocoder does indeed sound fun.

Well he says I can borrow it first to try it out, he's going to drop it off next week!

I've looked at reviews, it looks pretty good for a beginner like myself.  Do I need any other equipment to use it with?  I will one day upgrade my computer and get CuBase, but that could a while.

Does it have built in speakers?

My friend has one (a MicroKorg) for sale at a good price and I've not had any previous experience with a synth, so should I buy it?  I know it's not a prog synth essentially, but I quite like the idea of creating some cool noises and with the vocoder, it maybe a cool purchase.

What do you guys and girls think?

I shall ask him if I can try out for a week first to see how I get on, he lives locally too, so that's good.
