 Topic: Best RIO of the following

That's also a tough one. I only have 2 of their releases, Delirium
Cordia and Suspended Animation. Those two albums are so _drastically_
different from each other, you would be hard pressed to even call them
the same band. Suspended Animation's quite frenetic, and very Zorn-ish
(short attention span avant). Delerium Cordia is like the soundtrack to
a serial murder. Very disturbing in subtle ways, IMO.
I haven't heard Director's Cut yet.

For this matter, what's Fantomas's best album? Director's Cut has the highest rating here, but I'm more attracted to Suspended Animation.

I would go ahead and grab Of Natural History anyways. As for Fantomas,
I don't know if they will ever really grow on me and I haven't heard
enough of Disco Volante yet, but it is really good from what I have
heard.

All 3 albums in the poll are excellent, but SGM is probably the best given the RIO/Avant Prog you're already familiar with. Mike Patton's music less obviously RIO influenced, but is unquestionably avant prog.
I'd also recommend Schlagerns Mystik/Fur Aldre Nybegynnare by Zammla Mammaz Manna if you're looking for something to add to your existing selection of Scandinavian RIO.

No, I don't. At this point, the avant-prog albums I own are Vasaraasia by Alamaailman Vasarat, Hyonteisia voi rakastaa by Hoyry-kone, and Maltid by Samla Mammas Manna, all of which I enjoy. That's why I'm looking for more out-there stuff, these three in particular.

Yeah, that is a very, very tough choice. It really depends on your tastes. Have you heard any Mr. Bungle before? If you already own any Bungle, I'd say go with Sleepytime. If you don't own any Bungle, Disco Volante's definitely their best work, IMO, but California might actually be more palatable to someone new to avant-prog. I think Fantomas is best heard after you're already well versed in Mr. Bungle. If you plan on getting all three anyways, we already know you're not a fool! (I think Nipsey was just kidding around)

Not exactly a one piece but not exactly seperate tracks. Regard it more as a soundtrack with each track having its part in creating a different atmosphere for a different set, and within each track you also get these sudden shift of atmosphere.
Anyway, for something very uncommon, weird and enjoyable I would go with Fantomas.
For something more serious (It sounds weird , but yes it is more serious if you read the lyrics) and rewarding I would go with SGM. They too deliver the same amount of level of madness as Fantomas with different textures of music combining to create something not heard everyday, or anyday for that matter.
Go with SGM!

I actually have a question for you guys about Suspended Animation.
The songs are all really short, under 2 minutes for the most part. Are they single, separate tracks, or should the whole thing be taken in as 43 minutes, one piece?

Dico Volante is A slight bit akin to Suspended animation,if you listen closely they both have the same video gamish noises to them.
Slepytime is a little more serious than Pattons work.So depending on your tastes that could play a large role in your decision.Although I think your getting the best of both worlds here.
