"The Sheriff", which is actually quite a good song, although not in the same league as others on "Trilogy".

You know you are a real fan when you like these songs. I always liked Are You Ready Eddy? because of the play on the word 'eddy' and its quotation of revelry and Tchaikovsky's first Piano
Concerto during the piano solo. Say what you want about Emerson; he has a great sense of humor.
Ian Anderson said of Heavy Horses that he likes the songs but wished he would have included one or two silly songs, not because they fit into the concept but to make the album more well rounded. ELP knew how to do that.

its a perfect closing to such a serious, intense album

You are correct. I enjoy these little songs. I guess the word "novelty" wasn't the word i was looking for.

I think Jeremy Bender should have been in the poll. If I had to choose one from the list it would be Are You Ready Eddy. I could never even think of casting a vote for Love Beach no matter what the topic is.

jeremy bender, which was mistakenly placed in the title. Anyway, I find it the least dumb and the most bearable, although the sherrif is not bad.

It's probably funny, a fun song dedicated to their producer, Eddie Offord, but I just like it because of "the groove". |
agreed and have never really been put off by the 'novelty' songs... a
nice change of pace from the intense and ...err.. pretentious nature of
the masterworks which dominated the albums. They're fun... and
from what I've read.. .that's exactly how they were intended.

I like The Sheriff and always have done, especially the end piano bit and Carl Palmer's swearing.
Oh, you missed out Jeremy Bender.

From what I have seen on the ELP boards, it seems no one cares too much for these songs. Well humor me a little. Swallow your pride and tell me which one you like the most.
