I found King Crimson's debut, a few Yes, Genesis, and Frank Zappa albums in local CD stores, but that's about it. Although I did manage to find Mr. Bungle and Fantomas in an HMV of all places. You just have to swim through thousands of Green Day albums to get to it though.

It annoys me too that some prog CD's are hard to find. Like Magellan's debut album or Michael Romeo's solo album.

And when I find them, they are imported and costs a fortune!!

However, sometimes they're cheap too. Depends on which store or online store you visit though..

That's exactly how my local stores are. Tower Records has everything, but at unreasonable prices most of the time. I don't have a problem finding that stuff on line, but the rare, imported CDs are sometimes difficult or lacking in numbers, and that aggravatesd me sometimes.

I hate ordering cds, I wish I could just get them all from local store like a hip-hop fan.

I found Acquiring The Taste the other day for like 5 bucks at a used CD store. I almost peed myself

IF you go to a small record shop and you order something you know you will like, leave a downpayment so he is sure you will come back and buy it, he will do it. The customers are getting too razre to afford not making new ones.

the guy I go to, was and is a metal place but also catered some progmetal, mostly because I asked in the mid-90's to order some , then since I did not buy them , he directed those Cds to other metaljeads and now progmetal is his biggest market . So he orders prog regularly. Just worked a trust relation with him. Yes he is more expensive than megastores, but so much more flexible.

But this guy is willing to sell fridges to Eskimos

Yes, it bothers me. Local music shops are obviously not ran by progheads.

Ever since I have made the step toi do some net shopping, I find no problem whatsoever to find almost anything i want. I must say that Greg Walker of Syn-Phonic has an incredible catalogue.

My local record shop orders almost anything I ask him to. And he has no problem if I do not even take what he brings in on my advice if I do not want to buy it. He knows I am a good customer and I will not counsel him ti import stuff he could not get rid off to another customer

Then there is Music Emporium In Namur (Belgium) , this is like Ali Baba's treasure cavern. Amazing how this guys can operate such a shop with such unfashionable discs sitting in his racks. Almost everything the average proghead could wish for

Only a few Quebec prog still to be re-issued and the odd rare stuff such as Tea And Symphony's second album Jo Sago are still lacking among the stuff I really want

the rest will be throughout my research and musical adventures/meanderings

The other day I was walking into one record store and found King Crimson's Lizard and Island. I can understand there are some Pink Floyd and some Yes, but King Crimson?  now that was a miracle!
And in another store not to far from the other one, I found ALOT of prog but the modern ones. There where alot of insideout bands and other labels. That was the time when I bought the BE DVD.  There are some good bands in there but I want the 70's ones

I bought 'As the World' by Echolyn from there, and they didn't seem to have many Echolyn albums listed.

Ok just through curiosity what Hawkwind CD are you chasing ?   (Ive been a fan of  hawkwind for years )  I even had a video of them live, it was good too, till the video machine chewed it up

I'm chasing..

Sonic Attack
PXR5
Astounding Sounds/Amazing Music
Quark Strangeness and Charm

The three calvert albums dont seem to be very popular among many Hawkfans, but I loved their sound and approach to music at that time. I've had them on vinyl for years, but the last time I saw one of them on e-bay the bidding was over £75 for PXR5

That said there was a DVD of their 1984 Stonehenge show on Amazon, which I will get round to getting.

I`m looking for Xenon Codex

Easy!

Order it here, old chap..
