I don't hate Trent Gardner, he seems like a cool guy, but ALL his stuff sounds the same as the first Magellan album did in 1991, to me anyway! | On the contrary, his Leonardo project is a prog rock opera (far more majestic and orchestral than Magellan's first 2 albums), while Explorer's Club's The Age of Impact and Raising the Mammoth go to more prog metal-related places. It's more like Magellan has been gradually sounding more like Explorer's Club than viceversa. Regards.

I like them all , so I can`t vote ... each of them have covered far to much ground and had lots of success in this genre of music we call progressive rock (and that can`t be easy) so I buy and respect them all ... in fact I thank them for their contribution to prog and helping keep the dream alive

Big difference between "hating" and "not liking".
The sort of music I hate is the shi!te purveyed by rappers, X-factors, R&b-ers, boybands, etc etc etc.
I just don't find the sort of stuff purveyed by the guys named above particuarly inspiring or original. It is White Music. Nothing really sticks. A phrase that always comes back to me at moments like this was made by an old mate of mine in the cafeteria of the company we then worked for. When presented with a meal of chicken in a white sauce, he was asked what it tasted like. "Exactly what you'd expect white to taste like."
That, to me sums up Stolt, Portnoy, etc.
Bland, white, tasteless.

None of them.
Clive Nolan's project "Jabberwocky" with Oliver Wakeman is superb.

I don't hate any of those musicians.
Musicians that do a lot of side projects don't bother me at all,I like that they give me so much more music that isn't from their main group.

Why Zuffanti? each one of his projects has a particular direction, well defined as different fro many other of the rest.

Can I tick them all?
If pushed I'll go for Stolt. I've tried Flower Kings and Transatlantic and I've even bought Kaipa but in the end there's just something that I cannot like about him or the music. It reminds me of those colour by numbers things from my childhood.
Nolan is a close runner up though, for the same reasons.

i voted for roine stolt. i really can't stick him. he's
probably a great bloke but that i have yet to find out.
saw him live with TRANSATLANTIC and his
"headmaster-of-progressive-music" demeanor
made steve howe look like johnny ramone! plus, his
comments and liner notes in TRANSATLANTIC's
debut to me epitomize everything that is wrong in
prog rock...

progressive rock and rural tranquility don't match. true or false?

Face it - there are few guys in prog, who just make you sick. They annoy you. They have thousands of their side-projects with SIMILAR music(the only definition is in names only ).They do not know, what the good taste is.
...maybe,I'm too rude, but there are always some guys whom you despise.Just share your emotions
