Maybe I should try the net, but I'm a bit weary about dealing with salesmen of which I can not see their eyes.

I think they are an Arena spin off band involving Clive Nolan aren't they? I believe the Verglas website (Arena's own label) have at least some of SOAT's stuff available.

In that case, I'd choose Spaced Out. The bio and reviews sound interesting.

I think because of your excursions into jazz rock, you'll enjoy Spaced Out - Antoine Fafard is one of the best new bass players I've heard (but I'm biassed because he graced my radio show with a great live set with Steve Lawson - might be able to find tape somewhere of it - or is it on Fafard website?), and Antoine drives that band along - start with Eponymous 2

Now to find it.... Thanks Dick, you da man.

Eponymous sounds more like UZEB (fusion), with Allan Holdsworth-like guitar solos, while Eponymous 2 is more bizarre, dark , disonant, more prog than jazz: it has similitudes with Jannick Top (Zeuhl) and King Crimson.

I'm not going to argue the toss, too good a band- Eponymous 2 was the first one I heard - and I can get more  attached to the first album I hear by a band, than those that come later. And yes, there is a touch of Krimson about arrnagements and playing.

I've voted on Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, from which I've heard only one song. I wish I had any of their CDs (2, I think). I wish I knew Djam Karet, too.

Regarding Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, I find it so awful that VDGG is good compared to this band: disgraceful, dissonant, the tracks seem to go absolutely nowhere. I do not have good words for them! Among the worst prog band ever!

For me, the band would be Cast. I bought 1 album :Legacy .I think its great !

and i can't wait to discover other albums which I heard are even better.

I have a feeling this band is very underated.

I'm intrigued by Sleepytime Gorilla Museum...

I certainly love the name. Who are they?

I must remind the right honourable gentleman that a monologue is not a decision.

I would have said Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, but I listened to them just a few weeks ago. And quite liked them, apart from the noisy live stuff
