hahaha didn't see this one... seperate and delete. Even I won't touch trying to get ELO pt 2 in here, and they shouldn't be anyway IMO. |

I'd say delete. There should be a separate debate about ELO Part 2's inclusion if required. Anyone else? |

I'll let you guys be the judge, because I don't know the band well
enough to form an opinion. If you want it deleted, I can ask M@X to do
it.

Good point. ELO part 2 was really a separate band. I'm not convinced their releases should be listed under ELO.

Technically speaking, Moment of Truth falls under the band name "Electric Light Orchestra Part II." I don't have all the details on how this name variation came to be. From what I understand, ex-ELO drummer Bev Bevan formed a new band and named it Electric Light Orchestra II without Jeff Lynne's permission or approval, but Lynne decided it wasn't worth the money to take them to court. The new band also featured ex-ELO bassist Kelly Groucutt.
It appears some fans consider the Part II releases as part of the ELO discography, however others don't. I thought it would be important to bring this up for accuracy's sake and that when diehard ELO fans come to the site, they may or may not make complaints about this entry. Personally, I can go either way on this and have no problems with it being listed. http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD. asp?cd_id=10552 Wikipedia lists Part II on the ELO page, but it lists Part II's releases separately in the discography. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_light_orchestra ELO's official website does not list the Part II releases, neither does the Face the Music fan magazine site. In fact I could find no mention of it, for obvious reasons I suppose. http://www.elomusic.com/ http://www.ftmusic.com/ However, Rockaria! has a definitive ELO discography that is more extensive than the official sites, and they do list Part II http://www.rockaria.com/elomain.html Can someone with more information look into this? As I said, I have no problems with it being listed, however I don't think "Part II" should have its own entry because it itsn't prog IMO. It kind of has the feel of the late 1970's ELO pop sound, but with better and harder sounding guitarwork. |
