you could argue its Punk's 30th anniversary, though I'd really leave that for 2007

1) According to different sources the following people will (or would) celebrate their 60th anniversary in 2006:

- John Paul Jones (Led), Syd Barrett & David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Justin Hayward (Moody Blues), Martin Barre (Jethro), Dave Mason (Traffic), Ralf Hütter (Kraftwerk), José Carreras, Jane Birkin, Patti Smith, Marianne Faithful, Donovan Leitch. And also if alive: Carl Wilson (Beach Boys), Gram Parsons (Byrds), Freddie Mercury, Keith Moon.

2) The following will (or would) celebrate 50 years old:

- Dave Murray (Iron Maiden) and if alive Ian Curtis (Joy Division).

3) 40 years of the following prog-related releases:

- Revolver - BEATLES; Pet Sounds - BEACH BOYS; 5th Dimension - BYRDS; Sunshine Superman - DONOVAN; Freak Out - MOTHERS OF INVENTION.

4) 30 years of the following prog releases:

- A Trick of the Tail and Wind & Wuthering - GENESIS;  Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll Too Young to Die- JETHRO TULL; Leftoverture - KANSAS; 2112 - RUSH.

 

Any other celebrations?
