Well said, Patrick! I suppose the best idea would be to close this thread, as it doesn't really add anything to what is already available.

I'm 38 and new to the forum. I've listened to prog rock in many years, Pink Floyd and Alan Parson before I was 10 years old. These days it's mostly electronic music /TD, Redshift and more), Yes, Marillion, Porcupine Tree and a lot more.

i love this thread!!!
Im 23, and im a physical therapist in a humble hospital here in the philippines. I first got into prog metal (rather than the yes, genesis type of thing...)and dream theater, symphony x, rush and queensryche was the intro band for me...
im so glad i discovered this site and found out that there are tons of other subgenres.
before my prog years (and counting!!!) i enjoyed funk, jazz, some old school heavy and hair metal bands (mr. big is my all time fave in this ), and mostly of robert smith's work..
coz of this site, i discovered King Crimson, Genesis, Porcupine tree, camel, mahavishnu, brand x, and loads of other really good prog music..
im really learning a lot from all of you guys here!!!

I'm 22.
I think it's very exciting to see such a young crowd (including myself) who take an interest in the music. I think the internet may bring about a "prog revival" in the younger generations. All it took for me was a listen to porcupine tree and a visit to prog archives for me to be totally hooked. Well, actually when I was fairly young, I was baptized by fire into prog. I can recall listening to king crimson (in the court & in the wake) as early as 8 years old.

With my 41 years I feel old in the forum.
But when I go to concerts I feel like a kid
BTW: Another factor to have few older people posting is that you need to have time, so self employed or students are the most common people in forums.
