Topic: bass player Posted: December 08 2005 at 19:22 |
I'm wondering why you even considered putting Roger in this poll.
If you like him enough to compare him to Squire then I guess it's good you can see some good in his playing, there are very few of us that can. Mabey Squire vs. Lee or something a little more chiche`.

No chance for Waters... if it was another bassist the competition should be tighter.

Waters is a more creative song Writer, go Waters!
But Squire just simply owns him in bass playing.

Before listening to Chris Squire's work on Yes, I didn't know that such technical skill can be displayed on bass (although I am fairly new to progressive rock.)
Squire, no question.

Strictly as a bass player, Chris Squire walks all over Mr. Waters. Now, if you bring songwriting into the formula, I'd give the nod to Mr. Waters.

Bit unfair, Roger Waters started off playing lead/rhythm guitar. Geddy Lee is my man.

Technically there is no comparison at all - Squire wins hands down. Waters is an average bass player, well suited to PF's sound but no virtuoso - however, he's one of the best-ever lyricists and songwriters.

Chris, of course.
