Topic: Suppers Ready VS. Close to the Edge Posted: November 19 2005 at 15:01 |
However polls there are, I'll vote Supper's ready. CTTE would be my number two epic, but not quite as accomplished and perfect as Supper. IMO, of course.

goes before YES´s fans start manipulating the poll.
The last poll was statistically ridiculous. Statistics don´t
work that way. That poll was once in favor of Supper´s for at least 10
points.

Too late, just an hour ago I read this thread and Supper's Ready was
above by 25 to 19, statistics don't lie 41 Yes fans don't come here in
60 minutes, vote 41 times and don't post anything,
I insist, some Yes fan has a PC shop or owns an Internet cafe, that's the only way to explain this.
But who cares about Polls too much anyway.

couldn't agree more Ivan, though I'm voting (1st and only time ) for Close to the Edge.

Close to the Edge was done by sticking bits of other songs together.
And TOTO was more pretentious than a blind-folded 3 year old building a skyscraper with one hand.

OK then...Yes CAN write long pieces, as Close The Edge and Gates Of Delirium prove, its not pretentious, Tales is not funny, and the only way that genesis could make a long song is by sticking bits of other songs together. Not that thats bad!

Nope!
Genesis weren't pretending they could make good music to last more than 20 minutes, because they could do it!
Yes were only pretending they could make good music to last 20 mins, when in fact they couln't even make good music for 18 minutes!
Tales of Topographic Oceans is so pretentious it's funny!

Seems like you're serious too! The only thing funny is your opinion! Funny in a strange way that is!

As a song and concept I stay with Suppers Ready
As instrumental masterpiece, I stay with Close top the Edge.
So I can't choose.

I LOVE both songs... went with Genesis because there's much more going on in that song.

This shouldn't even be a question... Yes are way more innovative and musical then Genesis, and those two songs demonstrate that clearly
