Awaken -- Yes

Then at the wake, I would have 'Still Life' by VDGG played on repeat for a few hours, then round the evening off with loads of The Cure and The Smiths. If I'm dead I dont see why anyone else should enjoy themselves..
|
If its the remastered Still Life then i'd have fun.
Heaven forbid anything should happen to you, but if you were to 'pop off' then ensure the invite get passed through
Agree with you on the cure/the smiths though, might need to make my excuses then.

"Heaven knows I'm miserable now" would be quite apt, I reckon. And depending on the manner of one's demise, "There is a light that never goes out" could precede it.

I would definitely go with Pink Floyd's Great Gig in The Sky. Definitely.

... I'd choose a shorter one. Imagine someone who is supposed to be sad (or willing to open the testament), who doesn't like prog and who is forced to listen to a 20+ minute song. He'd eventually hate me.

I just listened to And You and I with this in mind.
I think the world would cry for you if this played, this song is absolutely beautiful in every way...absolutely stunning ending to kick off the emotions, my dead body would probly start crying!!!!! Its not even tears of sadness, its almost tears of joy that the beauty of the whole situation exists, and it makes you wonder
AND YOU AND I

I think for the sake of the guests it'd have to be something short
& sweet so they could get out to the wake. I'd rather they
remembered me for putting on a good spread than saying "Do you remember
old Phils funeral and that bloody cr*p music we had to sit through?"
I used to sing in a church choir and at weddings (different I
know) whenever someone picked a piece of music that wasn't
traditional we all groaned because usually, it just didn't
work....(please no, not Morning Has Broken by Cat Stevens again! oh no,
not Amazing Grace on bagpipes!). Somehow only traditional hymns work in
a church (unless maybe we're talking alternative e.g. humanist
ceremony).
I think I'd be boring and traditional when it came to funerals as well.
But I did like that at Graham Chapman's funeral (of Monty Python fame)
they sung "Always Look on the bright side of life"!

If it has to be a prog song I'd probably go for "And You And I", there'd be floods of tears by the end. It's a bit long for everyone to sit through though, so the song I really want is Electrolyte by REM, because it's short, happy-sounding and ends with the words "I'm not scared, I'm out of here".

I'd like to be cremated. Everybody would have a glass of Cinzano Bianco and lemonade, and as the coffin slides through the curtain I'd like The Birdy Song by the Tweets (or failing that Agadoo by Black Lace) and for all those present to do the dance. On the off chance that there is an after life, witnessing that would give me enormous pleasure.

If I do not have any friend at my funeral, please play:
BOB DYLAN: "The Lonesome Death of Hatie Carroll"
If all my friends are at my funeral:
ELTON JOHN: "Funeral for a Friend"
If I was shot to death:
THE ROLLING STONES: Let it Bleed
If I was stabbed to death:
GENESIS: The Knife
If I died like Sid Vicious:
NEIL YOUNG: The Needle and the Damage Done
And if I want everybody crying at my funeral, play
PROCOL HARUM: A Salty Dog (the saddest song I have ever heard).
