I believe GG's Derek Sulman signed Bon Jovi.
Honestly. progressive rock is complex to that of Jazz and Classical and GG created some of the most complex prog material.
Heavy Metal is basically rock and rock roll/rockabilly, like Elvis, Chyck Berry etc.
However, as this genre had its share of Pat Boones that made it accessible to one's parents and women, Bon Jovi did the same for Heavy metal.

Gentle Giant and Bon Jovi cannot really be compared at all. It's like comparing a Caravaggio with, say, a daubing by a schoolboy. I don't think I need to say which is which.
