A little bit of a problem: there's usually more than one favorite per album....

Aerosol Grey Machine - Necromancer
The Least We.... - White Hammer
H to HE....- The Emperor In His War Room
Pawn Hearts - Man Erg
Godbluff - Undercover Man
Still Life - Pilgrims
World Record - A Place To Survive
Quite Zone... - Cat's Eye, Yellow Fever
Present - not decided yet

And then, thers's Peter Hammill solo............

Only those I have :

The least we can do ... - After the flood
H to He - Pioneers over C
Pawn hearts - A plauge of ligthouse keepers
Godbluff - Arrow
Still life - La rossa
World record - Meurglys III

There are many others which are great like darkness, lost and especially my room.

From his solo career I want to add that "Time heals" is a briliant track.

The Aerosol Grey Machine - Giant Squid/Octopus (have to be played together I feel)
The least we can do is wave to each other - After The Flood
H to He Who Am The Only One - Pioneers Over C
Pawn Hearts - Man-Erg
Godbluff - The Sleepwalkers
Still Life - Childlike Faith In Childhood's End
World Record - Masks
The Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Dome - Cat's Eye/Yellow Fever (Running)
Vital - Cannot decide yet
Present - Nutter Alert

It's hard to choose just one!  I love Plague of Lighthouse Keepers, House With No Door, Lost, Darkness 11/11, Afterwards, Orthenthian Street (actually, that's very high up my list!), Into A Game, Still Life, Pilgrims, the oft forgotten My Room (Waiting in Wonderland) as well as the amazing Meurgly's III (The Songwriter's Guild).

Still Life is my favourite album.

The Aerosol Grey Machine - Into A Game - I couldn't really decide here but this is my current favourite. It'll probably change next week.
*The Least We Can Do is wave to each other - Refugees
*H to He  who am the only one -  Killer
Pawn hearts -  a tie: A Plague of lighthouse Keepers/Lemmings
*Godbluff - Scorched Earth
*Still life - My Room (Waiting for Wonderland)
*World Record - A place to survive
The Quiet Zone-The Pleasure Dome - Lizard play

* I don't own these ones on cd yet, but I did get a slightly worn copy of Godbluff on vinyl today for a few bucks.

I think you are referring to Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night and not Fool's Mate...correct?Yes that lp is stripped down a bit, but listen to the last tune again...(In the) Black Room/The Tower.....great piece of Prog...if you are referring to Fool's Mate, then I am surprised you thought it as only guitar and piano given the guest musicians on that one. Also, it is not one of his better works.

Silent Corner and The Empty Stage and In Camera are probably more your cup of tea, although Silent Corner has its stripped down tunes as well...the highlights of that lp are Modern, Red Shift and A Louse is not a Home. If you can excuse Hammill for not making a pure prog effort on these lps, then you may find(as I did) to appreciate the raw emotion on these....especially Chameleon.

Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night it is and it is certainly not a bad album. The last track is indeed very much VDGG.

A Lous is not a Home is, as I understood, a solo song from Hammill. Yet it appears on the remastered 2005 version of Godbluff as bonus track.

Choices, choices.... I think I will check out Still Life first and then move on to Hammills solo pieces. Enough to keep me busy for a while.

Otherwise you mean to confirm that Pawn Hearts is a bit too much for me. and you were in fact teasing me with this guy attached ->

Anyhow, you are right.

I'll clarify...Still Life is more in line with Godbluff than it is with Pawn Hearts.
