Robert Fripp is the one. There is no contest.

Agreed, though I'm unconcerned over whether Fripp is a jerk or not.

Might as well try and compare Segovia to Steve Vai. Silly poll.

Both are great guitarists and composers on their own right, it's unfair to state that one is better than the other, so I voted BLANK.

Mr. Fripp, one of the most important contributors to prog. And he's such a colourful person.
Mind you, May's guitar sound and style is unique and very good. But mr. Fripp is a league of his own. A league of gentlemen who put prog on the musical map.

Wait!
What is this competition?
Are they kickboxing?
Jello-wrestling?
Spelling bee?
I have to know before I vote.

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

That's funny; trying to rate/compare Fripp to the Queen guy. No offense to Mr. May, but Fripp is light-years ahead of him, from songwriting skills, to guitarmanship, to creativity and originality, to diversity. That includes Fripp's special guitar tunings, Frippertronics guitar loop soundscapes, teaching acoustic guitar classes, writing books, giving speeches, delving into logic and philosophy, etc. I mean, Brian May is a guitarist. Fripp is a guitarist and about a dozen other things!
FRIPP's THE MAN!
Brian May does get credit for building/designing his trademark guitar (apparently from wood from a fireplace?) and for his early guitar orchestrations.

Fripp may be a jerk in some respects, but he doesn't have a ridiculous poodle perm, isn't married to a soap opera actress with exactly the same hairstyle as himself, isn't currently touring the world with Paul Rodgers (good rock singer though he is) standing in for Freddie Mercury and hasn't had his best songs cannibalised into a third rate West End musical by Ben Elton. Add to that Fripp's musical superiority (no disrespect to May, but he's no great innovator when it comes to technique) and it's a total no brainer.
Fripp!
