What are some of your favourite studio debut albums of 2024? Tapir! remains my favourite debut, and I heard it first in late January of 2024. Of these four, only Greep is included in PA's album/artist database. Kimbanourke I would recommend to fans of Mid-Air Thief(aka Gongjong Duduk...). So these are my top four.
Tapir! - The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain (England, released January 26, 2024) Indie Folk, Chamber Folk Chamber Pop, Post-Rock, Folktronica Bandcamp playlist, Spotify playlist, YouTube playlist Kimbanourke - Binjari (Korea, released January 31, 2024) Singer-Songwriter, Indie Folk, Progressive Folk Psychedelic Folk, Chamber Folk Bandcamp playlist, Spotify playlist, Youtube full album Geordie Greep - The New Sound (England, released October 4, 2024) Jazz-Rock, Progressive Rock, Art Rock Avant-Prog, Latin Rock, Jazz Fusion Bandcamp playlist, Spotify playlist, Youtube playlist English Teacher - This Could Be Texas (England, released April 12, 2024) Indie Rock, Art Rock Post-Rock, Post-Punk, Art Punk, Chamber Pop Bandcamp, Spotify, Youtube playlist Note that the album genre descriptions come from Rateyourmusic with the first line being the primary given genres, and the second line being the secondary genre designations. I included links to Bandcamp, Spotify and Youtube to listen to full albums, but also embedded a track from each album that I appreciate. Here is Wikipedia's limited list of debut albums for 2024: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:2024_debut_albums And rateyourmusic's for New Music (more options if one logs in I guess, forget my password now, have rarely logged-in) https://rateyourmusic.com/new-music/ Easily looking up debuts is a feature that I wish was easier to find at many music websites (not that I have looked hard), including at PA. If you have some good resources, please offer a link. And for those who prefer to listen to a band or artist's albums chronologically, this could make it easier for some to come up with a list for PA's album of the year. ;) It might be kind of nice to discover a band or artist when it's new and then years later say, "I was there from the beginning!" And so nice if one get a chance to support a promising new band or artist doing concerts, even if only at the local pub or even busking. So please share what you know (if any) and especially what you know and like (if any). |
