The n ew female singer is Ok but not a patch on Lee Douglas - but who is? Saw somewhere she was working as a waitress. Then there is the rumour mill and a former collaborator is in jail for child abuse. As for the album, its more of the same but I think this woeful lament stuff has been explored an infinitum and I thought Danny might have tried to veer towards something else. Anyway, will definitely go when they tour.

^ Lee Douglas was also the younger sister of their drummer John Douglas

^ Only one - Daniel Cavanagh. Following the split, Vincent started up his own solo project called 'The Radicant', and yes - neither of the two female vocalists who contribute to the Weather Systems debut album were a part of Anathema, with that band's former female vocalist Lee Douglas no longer being involved in either of the two Cavanagh brothers' solo projects.

So how many Cavanaghs are there in Weather Systems? And I think the female vocalist has changed….

^ Yes, the band went on 'indefinite hiatus' in September 2020 mainly due to them having built up a quite considerable debt as a result of Covid, and the resulting cancellation of the 'We’re Here Because We’re Here' 10 year anniversary tour that they'd pumped a lot of money into. There were other issues involving some band members simmering away in the background as well, but the debt was really the straw that broke the camel's back.
Daniel's 'Weather Systems' project is currently being evaluated in Crossover, with two 'yes' votes so far. You can find the suggestion thread for its inclusion here.

Heard that not being able to tour due to Covid put them hiatus.
I really like this new release. Also worth a listen is the EP Vincent Cavanaugh released as The Radicant a few months ago. More experimental. https://kscopemusic.bandcamp.com/album/we-ascend |

I don’t know what the fallout was a few years ago, which led to the demise of Anathema - but the new album is fantastic! And so it should be, from a band named after one of my all time favourite albums!😎

Silly to change the name of the band but keep sounding the same. It was probably a legal choice, come to think of it. I like the music, though!

I love that Anathema album on which the band name is based. Good that there is still something coming out from that stable.

Many will find this snippet from 'The Prog Report' an interesting read...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
