^ make any changes you think you would improve it, I would say. I see it has been paragraphed. I was just doing that myself but before hitting summit I wanted to see if changes had been made and it seems exactly the same way I was going it even down to breaking up a sentence.

What a beautiful sight! I'll do what I can to help while I continue the herculean task of taking care of NWW.
I'd like to gently edit the bio (with line breaks for readability) if that's cool with y'all. And I'd personally have included info about 2012, their proggiest year (6-hour and 24-hour songs), along with the band's declared love for progressive rock (VDGG, Can, Rush, etc) and their Pink Floyd and King Crimson tribute albums. That can possibly be appended at a later time. Edited by Gordy - August 16 2024 at 18:06 |

^ Thanks Jacob. Much appreciated; looking good. Will take a closer look tonight and then hopefully it gets added today or tomorrow, and then any help with adding albums by you and anyone else would be much appreciated. By the way, I will want to write basically a why this is being added especially as there has been some dissatisfaction expressed because it had not been accepted before. That said, there is new material, a related act was added, and I don't think the case was ever presented nearly as well in the past. I don't think an act should be disregarded easily if before it was poorly presented. I actually did not find it ever having been formally rejected for PR, but instead not accepted. That said, even if it had been it was acceptable for reconsideration.

I'll gladly help with adding albums, and I've written a bio for the band
The Flaming Lips are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Known for their experimental sound and eclectic performances, the band has explored various genres including alternative rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, and electronic music. The original lineup consisted of Wayne Coyne (vocals, guitar), Michael Ivins (bass), and Mark Coyne (drums), with Steven Drozd (drums, guitar, keyboards) originally a garage band they formed in Oklahoma City in 1983, making a self titled EP on their self made label, which caught the attention of college radio DJ's and indipendent record stores in the Oklahoma City area. The garage sound they had would form into that of contemporaries Sonic Youth and the Butthole Surfers, creating something noisy and psychedelic, the band would experiment and even make music that was described as a more "grungey Pink Floyd", this would be great for the band due to the success of Nirvana's output major labels we're trying to have their own "Nevermind" and in 1991 Warner Bros would sign the band, and the Lips would go on to make noisy psych pop in their next few albums. But this was only the beginning, The Flaming Lips would gain widespread acclaim with their 1999 album "The Soft Bulletin," which featured lush, intricate arrangements and lyrical themes of existential reflection. Their 2002 album "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" continued this trend, blending pop sensibilities with experimental sounds and earning Grammy nominations. Throughout the 2000s, the band continued to explore diverse musical styles, including ambient, experimental, prog and pop. Albums like "At War with the Mystics" (2006) and "Embryonic" (2009) pushed the boundaries of their sound even further, cementing their status as pioneers in the alternative and experimental rock genres. The Flaming Lips are also known for their elaborate live performances, featuring theatrical elements such as giant balloons, confetti showers, and elaborate costumes. Their 2012 album "The Terror" showcased a darker, more introspective side of the band, and subsequent releases continued to demonstrate their commitment to innovation. In the 2020s, the Flaming Lips have remained active, releasing "American Head" (2020), which reflected a more introspective and nostalgic tone, and continuing to engage with their dedicated fanbase through unique and imaginative musical projects. Their enduring influence and willingness to experiment have secured their place as one of the most inventive and enduring bands in modern rock history. Hopefully this is decent enough if not well aw man |

I or Ian will happily add The Flaming Lips if someone provides an original bio (no AI crap or lifted bios). And hopefully helps with adding albums. See here.

Flaming Lips...yeah, sure. Why not? Not a fan of their version of DSotM, but they didn't muck it up any worse than Roger Waters did.

We still need one of the advocates for The Flaming Lips to step up and provide a bio and band shot. I'll happily add them if I get the requisite information.

Why isn't Hunter S Thompson considered a children's book author? Nice The Prisoner reference in your status, by the way!

Wow… rejected in 2006, 2007,2009 and 2010. Not even brought to the vote in 2014.
Surprising addition.

I don't think there's any ETA. I'm no expert on the band but I like various albums by the band and would be willing to help, but would rather not until next month. Any special collab can add it, and any member can help, including adding the albums. I figure it's no hurry, it's been out for all these years. It is a big add and having various people working on different aspects of it might be really helpful and we would want to do it right. While I have added a few bands recently, I'm kind of rusty on it. I need to find a faster way to add albums too. One member had made a program to help with that. That alone sometimes takes me a ridiculously long time. Of course one can do that over time.
