I still buy records (and some CDs) all the time. I live in Atlanta and there are several stores I visit regularly, in addition to buying online (mainly thru Discogs). A few prog LPs of note I’ve gotten in the last couple of weeks are :
Burnin’ Red Ivanhoe | s/t ($15) Zappa | The Grand Wazoo ($18) Eddie Jobson | The Green Album (aka Zinc) ($8) Jethro Tull | Bursting Out ($6) Focus | In and Out of Focus ($8) Jon Anderson | Song of Seven ($4) Edited by HolyMoly - June 19 2023 at 05:46 |

Nah. Nowadays I only have those runs whenever I visit a Record Fair. The
last non-depressing place or context to look for gems on vinyl. At fairs
I find those old guys whose happy someone slightly younger than them is
still interested in their old, weird stuff (meaning mostly jazz for me). They too don't want no one kilo heavy Ultra
Audiofile 89 € triple album repress monster version filled with useless studio
run throughs (or whatever excuse they use for their outragous price
tag). Original pressings on places such as Discogs has become like 200%
more expensive during the last decade as well (and then there's shipping
expenses). At a record fair I often find the original album in it's
original shape, in mint condition for 15-25 €. I don't mind a solid repress, but just sell me the god damn album at a reasonable price.
-but I've gotten all my Pink Floyds and my Genesises for somewhere in between 1 to 7 € back when I bought them, while KC was always a little more expensive... like five up to twenty bucks. Got Starless ans Bible Black for less than a Euro though:) Sorry for the rant. I'll come back here the next time I've had such a day. It'll probably be a little while till then.

I pretty much stopped buying albums about 10 years ago. In the old days I was single, had a decent income, so I would go hunting for albums on a weekly basis. I had accumulated about 2000 albums, when my situation changed and I slowly changed my perspective. Nowadays I listen to much more new music than I did back then, but almost exclusively through streaming services (Spotify, Bandcamp). Occasionally I'll buy my most favorite new albums on vinyl, but my "hunting days" are over.
