4 stars 1981: OMD - Architecture & Morality - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_llnjyPTsTwxqfDKPqv9lgfi5o2EcyhxWk

A Souvenir from the height of the New Romantic era when Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys both looked impossibly young. My feelings still remain for this lovely song, 42 years on. A special remix version of the song was released only in France, the only problem being that the French don't have a word for "Souvenir". Embarrassed

4 stars 1981: Ultravox - Rage in Eden - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLe5AzvnGx9OK23biWq2ur0zc90OKWGNcM

Back in the early 80's, Ultravox were all the Rage with the look and the sound of The Voice of Midge Ure, and when Vienna sounded like the coolest place to be on Earth. Smile

5 stars 1981: The Human League - Dare - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kleqYoWvyce3vqYTULVYUavBk-ncUkOxc

Dare to be different with the Human League back in 1981 when it was four to the floor dancing around the handbags at my local nightclub - and sometimes the girls joined in too, if we were lucky!  These Are the Things That Dreams Are Made Of. Smile

^ Crikey! That's an uncanny resemblance, although to my eyes, you look more like Dave Stewart in the centre of the picture. Smile

Why not come into the garden with Annie and Dave. The flowers are lovely during the English Summer. Smile

Love these three about equally:

New Order - Movement
Eurythmics - In the Garden
Siouxsie & the Banshees - Juju

Lots of great stuff here. Must have been a fun era to be a teenager in.

I found that song slightly annoying too, at least to begin with in the early 80's when it was in "high rotation" on the radio, in the same way as Marillion's "Kayleigh" was constantly played to death on the radio at the time, but I've grown to love both bands now, with four albums by Depeche Mode and five albums by Marillion in my CD collection.
Kayleigh I can remember from my childhood, but I dont think I had ever heard any of those early Depeche-singles until after I had bought Violator (which was followed by buying Music For The Masses and their Singles 1981-1985-collection - all of them for the equivalent to one euro each).

4 stars 1981: Duran Duran - Duran Duran - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lTJhpfnwuGn4MaalAXH18FsjgNLeYJr7E

It's back to a time of bouffant hairdos, heavy eye mascara and big earrings - and that was just the men. Yes, it's just another day on Planet Earth in the 1980's. Smile

I would like to belatedly put in a mention for FINGERPRINTZ's 1981 album, Beat Noir. It comes in a number of different versions, but I highly recommend the 10-song British 2nd edition (four songs dropped, replaced with three new songs) on Virgin.

Side one of Prince Charming is excellent, but the quality falls off a cliff after Stand and Deliver.
The album version of Ant Rap isn't a patch on the single remix.

I must go with Ghost in the Machine - it's impossible to think of 1981-82 and not think of that album!

That being said, I simply must give a shout out for Adventures in Modern Recording, which I absolutely LOVE! Even if he hadn't appeared on Drama and produced 90125, Trevor Horn should be remembered for this beautiful slice of early-80s nostalgia!
